Did any of you name your boat, and if so, what is the name? My friend named his "Aquaholic" and I thought it would be funny if I named mine "Cirrhosis of the River". I'll probably never actually do it because I think it would give Johnny Law a reason to pull me over.

No official decal on mine, but we have thought about it. I have a name, but I won't give it out until I actual apply the decal, sorry.
And aquaholic has been used for years. Usually by race boats that Ive seen, not ski boats. A cool name none the less.

I've owned 4 tournament inboards now and getting ready for number 5, and everyone always asks the same question: "What are you going to name your boat?"
THE ANSWER:
It already has a name "Mastercraft World Record Towboat", what name could possibly top that!

My last boat was named "Mother's Ulcer". I don't have a name for the MC at this point. I do have a name for my '56 runabout, and that's Premier Cru (will be painted on the transom as 1er Cru)

I haven't (and likely won't ever) named mine, but a cousin named hers "This Very Day" (It's a 'bu). Kinda neat story; when her youngest learned they would be getting a boat (or other items to get excited about), he would say "we're getting it this day? This very day??" He'd be so excited. The name fits well with that boat/family. A little sappy, but puts a smile on all our faces. :)

Mine already had the name "Wakeboard Edition" on the back. Couldn't have thought of a better name myself! :headbang:

Don't have name for ours - MC is good enough. Father-in-law named his 38 ft Carver - "Knot Enough" - thought this wa sgood choice since he always wants more.

We've had a few boats! First one was named 'Bogie', we got it form a pro golfer and just kept the name on the transom, it seemed to fit. Next boat was 'skeehag' an anacronism based on the firts names in our family, we thought appropriate for the boat and its purpose. New boat this spring will be an 04 197, we are leaning toward '38 OFF', it fits the boat nice and its our street number, maybe a little optomistic though.

First MC boat was named "Thumper" because of the sterio.

This boat is named "Grace".

My 26 foot sea ray is named "have a drink on me" but I have been contemplating a name, or at least a radio handle, of "69 of 100" for the new MC since I just bought number 69 of 100 of the 2005 197 tt. But I won't label the boat with decals, cause as many of you have said...ski boats already have the name on the stern...and I love that!

Any suggestions?

This boat has no name, but my old TriStar was named

"Thankyou Rena" ( EX Wife) She got some pics mailed to her with a few friends tipping a brew saluting her.....

And Leroy, I have let it go, I just have too much fun with it.......

My :twocents:

Only yachts (at least having bigger than a cuddy cabin) and workboats should have names plastered on them.

We call our ski boat "the Mastercraft."
While the name on the transom says "Laura Ann", I call my Formula "the Big Mistake"

My parents used to have a large boat(express cruiser) on Lake Mighigan that was "Serenity" (kinda lame IMO). Their friend's boat was "Hull Of A Toy"-pretty funny.

Enough gallstones can actually pay for a boat if you have the right job for it...

Unofficially we've named our boat "fellow-ship".

If we ever get around to it we might even put the name across the transom.

When we bought our boat one of our goals was to be able to share our love of boating with our friends and be able to spend some nice relaxation time with them. Basically to use it for fellowship.

I'm an old Navy man shepherd so I know the difference between a boat and a ship. ("You can put a boat on a ship but you can't put a ship on a boat.")

But at the end of the day, if someone who has spent a lot of time on a toy gets a little more enjoyment out of slapping a name on the back of it, who am I to complain.

We got the biggest boat MC made at the time so that we could invite as many friends as possible.

My wife is just glad they didn't have the X-280 back then!

HEY! its funny you say that. When I bought my MC this year, I was going to name it, and my buddy said, "what the hell for? look at the back of the boat, it already says it all." you and my buddy are right. :headbang: I cant think of a name that would fit. We just call mine "the Mastercraft". They dont need names IMO.

I haven't put a name on it, but we talked about, My Fairfax Lady, which is a play on the name of a stock that I made a bunch of money on and bought the boat with some of the profits...

For you guys with the big twin engine monsters, I saw this on a big twin rig in Florida and thought it was clever:

Miss Goody Two Screws

The boys and I are always pushing each other to do the next trick, so when we fall, we just say "Nice Tri". Since it's a Tristar, it seems to fit.

Agree. I always thought to name a boat it should have berths, a head, and a galley....which counts out all MC's (at least so far :) )

I didn't put it on the back, but was going to put "miss-tickle moon" with a picture of a pin up girl bent over, crack showing, in a maid out fit with a feather duster. We still call the boat miss tickle because MC's are mystical.

I agree that in order to name your boat it must have a galley, head, and at least one stateroom. Or at least be over 30' in length. On the other hand, my first boat was a 13' Boston Whaler that was named T/T Sodar (Tender to Sodar), so I guess it all depends on the circumstances. For the time being though my MasterCraft will be called "the MasterCraft!!!

No name on it but if I ever got around to it the name was Kaiten. Kaitens date back to WWII, the japanese had humans that mounted torpedos to steer them into boats. More times than not I consider myself a human torpedo while footin!

I have to say, I have seen a lot of comp boats over the years on my lake, and to this day I have only seen one with a name on it.

I always thought that it was silly to name a comp boat and anyone that I have ever talked to has always thought the same thing. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I'm not going to put another name on my Prostar, as several folks have already pointed out, it already has a fine description on the transom. However, the wife and I have played the what-if game. She calls my boat - "The Other Woman". :purplaugh

I agree...unless you own a TRISTAR or a 280.

A couple of local names: My brother in laws last name is WITMER.

His 61 Wooden Lyman is names "WITSEND"
His 26 Penn Yan is "HARBOR LIGHTS" Henderson Harbor NY.

My sons (Thomas) first 12 foot Jon Boat (With Holes in it) was named
"Thomas' Titanic" Painted in red by hand Never went down thank god!!!. The name was transferred to 3 13 foot Whalers TT2 TT3 and TT4. Bet ya did'nt know that Boston Whaler made a TT Boat HA HA :toast:

Older classic Wooden boats always have very catchy names as do larger boats...just can't see naming a inboard ski boat.
