There is a bunch of us going to table rock lake next summer and trying to find a good place to stay. Hopefully near a slalom course and good water. Or do you guys recommend bull shoals not looking for a social scene just good water for lots of skiing!!!

Table Rock is a beautiful lake. When I was in college, some friends and I used to spend a lot of time there, staying with friends that owned a marina on the Long Creek arm, near Branson. At that time, Branson was nothing more than a gas station and a Holiday Inn.
My clearest memory of Table Rock is a midnight mob assassination of a St. Louis labor racketeer, Louis D. Shoulders, Jr., in August 1972 that took place in the parking of that marina - car bomb in his big, black Fleetwood. He was an avid fisherman and spent a lot of time there. We ran down to the parking lot, first on the scene. I was the only one wearing shoes - I remember trying to find a pulse at Lou's wrist before I realized that his right arm had been blown off. What a surreal vacation that was. My friends and I had FBI agents periodically showing us mug shots for months afterwards.
Don't let MY experience deter you, though. I'm told that kind of thing is relatively rare down there... :D

We go Every summer and stay in the Shell knob area at a place called Fish n Fun. It's a great place and there is a course inthe Kings river arm that you can trailer to in about 10 minutes or it takes about 30 to boat to. Fish n Fun has it's own little cove off the main channel of T-Rock and is great to set up a portable course. It's great scenery and warm water for us.
I highly recommend it!

You cannot beat Bull for skiing and it is my all time favorite lake. During the week you can have the entire lake to yourself.............. beautiful blue water and miles upon miles of bluffs. Not too many good places to stay though.
Table Rock (which I go to much more often) is much, much busier and more comercialized. You really have to get off the main lake into one of the rivers to find any good sking water on the weekends.
If you are looking for great ski water Bull will not dissapoint. Here are some pics taken a few years back at bull shoals during the middle of the day on an off weekend............

this is approximately halfway between shell knob and kimberling city. we stay at a place called quiet acres. other cabins or resorts are leisure valley, navajo hills (which has just updated all their cabins and most are condos), sky harbor resort, and a couple more. let me know what dates you are planning to go. If we are not going to be down there, there is also another doctor that puts a slalom course in the same spot also.

FYI Bull is the last of the white river chain of lakes. The start is Beaver Lake. :)

beaver->table rock-> tanneycomo-> bull shoals
Bull Shoals is hands down the best for skiing. I used to boat on Table Rock then bought a cabin in Lakeview, AR three years ago and have never regretted it. There are plenty of places to stay in Bull Shoals, AR or Lakeview, AR. Go to bullshoals.com, bullshoals.org or bullshoals.net for more info. There is a slalom course up the lake near Pontiac, MO. Its an 18 mile boat ride from the dam. The water on this lake is usually calm enough to find great weekend skiing in the coves. The main channel water can get a bit choppy on weekends but still ok even for my 93 Prostar 205. Another bonus is the crystal clear water. Bring your mask and fins and dive along the bluffs.
Here's an alternate idea. Stay in a resort on Table Rock then trailer your boat to the Highway K ramp on Bull shoals for a day. This way you can see the crazy/fun action on Table Rock but still get a day of great skiing on Bull Shoals. You can trailer your boat from the east side of TR to the west side of BS in about 30 minutes.

Where at? What is the mile marker? We usually take a day and boat to kimberling city. I think it's a waste putting about 1000 sets of time on my boat to travel there but the CFO likes to go..... I would love to stop by somewhere along the way and grab a set. Usually we go sometime midweek. We put in a protable course back in the cove by fish-n-fun and rarely see anyone.

We stay every year at the Hickory Hollow Resort which is down on the Kings River arm and is about a 5 to 7 minute boat ride to the slalom course. They have several cabins of different sizes including a house with four bedrooms and two baths. They are very friendly family that owns and maintains the resort. We normally have a group of about 18 people running around on three MC's.

Is that the course that Williams bros keep up? By the Viola ramp? When do you go?

Table Rock
Happy Days Resort is right at the ski course up the Kings river. You can sit on the dock and watch people take their sets. Kings Harbor is also in the Kings river. A little further from the course but closer to town. Let me know if you need any more info on Table Rock.
There is also a course over in little cow creek. Halfway between Kimberling City and Indian Pointe.
Water was very nice in there.

the course at little cow is probably the best to ski on. it is maintained by skiers wharf. some weekends there are a lot of skiers down there and others there are just a lot of spectators. but probably the best place to ski.

Skiers Wharf is great. I was bummed to hear Bruce sold the place.

Sorry so late in finding this post. I have stayed @ Table Rock numerous times in my short life thus far. Family vacation every summer. we have stayed around Aunce creek for several years, and hit a slalom course around a girl scout camp there. we have stayed at edgewater villa for some time and have had great luck. perfect water for footing runs early in the morning, and usually end up around cape fair during the day relaxing and skiing when we feel like it.
