hello, newbie here.. i purchased a 2008 xstar yesterday and today i was doing some cleaning on interior listening the radio and the beeper went off for battery going low, I immediatley turned batteries off and hooked my charger up.. batteries charged for about 5 hrs, now when i turn battery on none of my gauges will work and my digital screen on dash will not power on, i can hit and hold the menu button and the screen will power on and it says please wait but when i release menu button the screen shuts down. any ideas or simple solutions?? any help would be greatly appreciated..

You able to get your hands on a battery load tester? Sounds like they may be nfg. When you were charging your batteries, did everything function properly then?

Test batteries. Sounds like its toast.... Unless the prior owner kept them up in off season--the life of a battery is compromised without activity----(charging)

yes. my stereo and all tower lights and all other lights are working perfectly, just no power to gauges or vdig.

Try disconnecting the battery leads and then resetting them...sometimes that is all it takes :-)
Kind of like a reboot.

Try removing the kill switch and then reinsert. I have a faulty kill switch which does exactly what you are saying. Good luck and enjoy your Xstar, I love mine and think the 2008 is better than the 2014.

I have the 08 vdig and it sometimes just needs to be reset. Turn your perko on and off after 3 minutes also. The vdig has some gremlin going on on rare occasion.

Thanks davidstan. Can you be more specific on what your are talking about. I've cycled the switch several times. Am I missing something?

The kill switch has been the source of many headaches.

My kill switch is by passed... I know, safety switch is there for a reason. I've NEVER even considered clipping the little red cord to me while operating.
Welcome and congrats on the XStar!!

Do you have the analog gauges on your 07 X2? Just curious why you bypassed the kill switch, is it because it was causing a problem? I have an 07 X2 with analog gauges and everytime I turn my boat off from running, straight over to the acc to keep the stereo on, I get an alarm. I have to wait for about 2 minutes and then it can go to acc.

One other thing on your VDIG - Make sure you disable/turn off the start up video, it will cause problems. Sorry, can't remember exactly how to do it, but if you search here you will find it.

Search VDIG

Yes, I have analog gauges. I didn't have any trouble with electrical or an alarm sounding. I would occasionally get something snagged on the tether and boat would kill, or not start. So I bypassed the switch.
