We do our annual hay ride. We bolt 8ft 2x10s to the frames of our ATV trailers that we use as benches for adults and fill the middle with hay for the kids. Than we use our ATV's to pull the trailers (hayride SC style). We always have cooler with beer and soda. We usually go for about 1 hour or so. If the kids get tired they can rest. We usually follow it up with a barrel fire for smores. We always have a good time and last year we had about 40 people.

Arguing with the 14 yo, on why she wasn't trick or treating. Her defense, "I just want to go hang with my friends". Uh, huh, NOT. Dragged her and her sister to the mall to furniture shop. My wife overhead some middle school kids bragging this morning about how they stole candy from some little kids

Handed out candy to the kids. Watched my wife get so excited over all the kid's costumes.
We did have a record turn-out this year. We usually have about 3 total trick-or-treaters. We had close to 20 this year. Actually ran out of candy. The wife was a little peeved that all the candy was gone, leaving her with none. :D

We had a record turnout, too...probably 100 kids

Most were pretty polite, but some just grabbed at the candy in the bowl

I kept the lights on and pumpkins lit until around 9:30, then shut it down with only a handful of candy left...

I remember a time when I took my son (now 20) trick or treating....
got to someone's house, ring doorbell, mother answers, and out jumps some little kid from behind her and swipes my kid's candy bag and ran off to her bedroom.
that was awkward:rolleyes:

Went out with other guys in the neighborhood and walked the little one's around, well my little one is 10.....

Came home and handed out candy from 7-8. Seemed much quieter in our neighborhood and before 8 there were no more kids out.

EDIT, oh yeah, then my high school son stumps me with some trajectory physics problems, I couldn't believe it, I'm an engineer, full year of college physics and I couldn't work any of 5 problems. :o The other son stumps with with high school honors Biology......I really am getting dumber every day.....
