That Xstar sure looks like a prototype. Many details are off from what went into production from the gauge pods, racks, folding windscreen recess etc... It even looks like the hull is different, judging by the transitions in the hull steps ICBW, but it looks like the steps are much more dramatic.

Still, were they really showing off a prototype boat that far ahead of a launch? Hard to image that with the way launches and secrecy have emerged the past few years with all of the brands.

I know it could be done, and I am adding new tires and redoing the bearings this winter, but I have a phobia.. :)

I have seen my brother go through frying a bearing twice on two different trailers, and busting a seal on a third when driving back from Atlanta, so it scares me it could happen to me and I might have to leave my boat on the side of the road...

I know: Extra set of bearings, spare tire, grease, tools, jack, etc...

Maybe I need to see a therapist... BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

BoatUS has a Trailer Assist option. Kind of like AAA, but they will come out and fix/tow your trailer and/or your tow vehicle. The price seemed reasonable. I haven't had to use it yet, but there were a few times in the past when I wish I had it!

Not trying to promote them, just stating it as an option worth considering if you're planning a long trip.

The Mastercraft plant sits right on Lake Tellico right off hwy 411. It connects to Fort Louden Lake (Tennessee River) which runs all the way to Knoxville. The lower end of Tellico near the plant is largely protected shoreline so development is minimal making for an uncrowded portion of the lake. Right on 411 there is a marina called Sequoia (town of Vonore) which even has rental cabins right on the lake...This part of lake has become my summer home since I can trailer to a public launch in 25 min from home in Maryville. The scenery is fantastic with a backdrop of the Smokey Mountain National Park.

Other lakes nearby is Melton Hill Lake with a slalom ski course in a protected cove and you would be one of a handful in the lake any given day (20-30 mins away) and Norris Lake is north about 1:15 away, also in the area is Douglas Lake, Cherokee Lake and for the tow hardened, Lake Fontana (towing through the dragon).

Pardon Homer mode... But if the factory isn't going to do it, then come to Buckeye Bash 5 !

I think I may have replied already but I would be interested, I need to go to keep WillyT in check.

I'd be in for a different reunion if MC isn't on board. but it would need to be "user friendly" I'd need to fly in for a few days then pack up. When we did the reunions in Charlotte, they were great times. But the situation wasn't conducive for the masses. We had around a hundred locals for the big event, but only a few dozen the other days. A big reunion needs a big easy place to get to by vehicle. A central gathering place. If a factory reunion happens, I think the format needs to be defined. It couldn't possibly be a hundred boats launching at the factory and partying on the lake. The old school reunions were all on pavement. The newer ones were smaller scale and on water.

If I fly in to the buckeye bash, I need to be hanging with OhioJohn on a really sweet X14.

Not to take away from the Buckeye Bash 5, we will be there, but Cincy MC does the MasterBash on Norris August 1-3, then not far for a Factory gathering before or after that event.

I just got a response back from MC. It's not looking good.

Hello Cameron,

I wanted to follow up with you about the possibilities of doing a reunion here at the factory.

We discussed this in our recent meetings and it looks like we are not going to be able to host a MC reunion here at the factory this summer.
With all of our current programming, new boat releases, and events, our sales and marketing team will be thinly stretched through out the summer. We will not be able to accommodate an addition event this year.

I wanted to get you an answer from our end, so you can pass along. We love the idea of a reunion at the factory, we think it can be a great event! In order for us to make this event live up to the MasterCraft standards, we will need more resources, time, and budget to plan for. We have begun conversations about our 50th anniversary, and how we can potentially incorporate a reunion.

We would have the ability to schedule some group factory tours. This could be a great way to please the group, but on a smaller scale. I see on the TT thread, there is conversation about having a reunion at a lake near Knoxville. If this were the case, and we plan properly, we could host some group factory tours. We are closed on the weekends, so it would need to happen on a business day. We would be happy to have our Team Talk guys come and visit. We have made several improvements around the factory, and we would love to show off the new and improved MC!

I hope you understand and can pass along our regrets to our loyal MasterCraft enthusiasts.

Thanks for everything you do for MasterCraft!

-Max

That's understandable. An event like this would take proper planning. What ought to happen is someone organizes a private (CSM style) reunion on a nearby lake that has enough public access and MC coordinates a one day weekend off water event at their facility. I can't imagine the logistics of launching an on water event on Tellico. Really a 50th anniversary event should happen in 3.5 years when the 2018's are launched in July 17. I highly doubt another reunion like the ones past will ever be organized.

What's so expensive about letting a bunch of people park their boats in a row outside the factory? It wouldn't be the end of the world if MC were to keep the factory "open" for 1 Saturday out of the year to allow their most loyal followers (as well as the ones that buy the boats that keep that factory open) to come and enjoy a day of walking around looking at some boats. Hell, MC could invest in a few trophies for under 200 bucks to give away a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the show. Could have 2 categories... wake and ski. Minimal investment, and it would probably attract a huge crowd. I mean, this company charges 140k+ for some of their boats. They can't offer these people a single Saturday out of the year that basically says "Thank you, come check out the rest of the clan"? Seems a bit selfish to me...

It's sad but I'm not really surprised. Why spend money on people where most of us have no plans to buy brand new boats. Besides parts, that's how they make money. If half of us that would go were about to buy new boats, the doors would be open and a party planned. From a business point of view, it makes no sense. Are we going to switch brands because they won't have this reunion? No.

I thank the dealers that keep these types of events happening (CincyMC - MasterBash) and others that support the grass roots events (Boat House Marine) like our Buckeye Bash!!

As usual, this is my opinion....

Too bad. But, as Dave said, we are trying to work out a plan. We will obviously keep everyone in the loop as the plan progresses. Poor Mark, he gets used a lot. LOL

The difference between the factory reunion in 2002 and now is the fact that they have different head honchos, that call the shots on what happens.
