Anyone had any good experience with GPS apps that let you leave cookie crumbs, etc from a smart phone? I heard there were some good apps out there.

Cookie Crumbs?

I have been using Waze for a while. Mainly because other Wazers will mark cops, construction, accidents, slow traffic, etc. and Waze will route you around. You have to be part of the team so it works for everyone.

If not Waze, I default to Google Maps.

As an over-land/water/air navigation GPS app, MotionX GPS is excellent, especially for $2.00 http://gps.motionx.com/iphone/

They also have a higher-res version for iPad, also $2.00 MotionX GPS HD http://gps.motionx.com/ipad/overview/

Both of the above will leave a trail for you. Really excellent.

MotionX also has a road navigation app, MotionX GPS Drive, and MotionX GPS Drive HD (iPad). Has all the stuff...traffic, voice, turn-by-turn, etc...I've found it to be more accurate and easier to use than the Nissan factory navigation in my Z car.

It's a little pricey. I think I paid $10, but its by far the best marine navigation app.

I used the app runkeeper. it shows my trail and tells mileage traveled. My girlfriend uses it for exercise. I exercised up the river one day.

Navionics! The depth charts are indispensible. $10 well spent.
