I am looking to take the wife away to somewhere warm in jan/feb area. Need some ideas as the money will be a little tight. We have not been away just the two of us in about 5 years because of the kids. I would like to surprise her with a little vacation. I was thinking a 5 day cruise or something all inclusive. Are any of these travel sites (ie: Travelocity) worth it or should I talk to a travel agent. Looking for suggestions on where to go also. In the past we have been to Jamaica, St. Croix, and Bermuda so I would like something new. All help is appreicated.

My advice to you is to wait until after the christmas rush, and before the spring break rush. Somewhere right in there and you can find a 7 day cruise or a 5 day for a pretty good price. Sounds like you should go for the carribbean. I have been on a few in southern and eastern caribbean, and they were all awesome. Can't go wrong with a cruise. :D

unless it's one of those where you get food poisoned and confined to quarters:rolleyes:

Wow Milk, ease up ! :uglyhamme
We've been on 5 cruises and they were all great -- but I just love being out on the water/on a ship.
From my experience, I've had good luck going to a local travel agent who specializes in cruises. They have access to good rates. The last one we used even got us an upgrade to a deluxe balcony cabin -- no charge! It also gives you someone to go to for help if there turns out to be a problem with reservations, etc.

Like the man said, can't go wrong with a cruise!

Gulf coast of Florida is pretty nice around Destin area and then Sanibel Island. Check out renting a house www.vbro.com (http://www.vbro.com)

Me too on the sick and confined to quarters. I will NEVER go on a cruise again - no way no how. If you do go and end up getting sick - do not go to the doctor unless you are on your deathbed. Even then think about it... :)

If you want to sunbathe, swim, fish, etc. don't go to Destin in Jan/Feb time frame. Too cold. Even Sanibel can be chilly. If you want a good chance at warm weather, you need to go to Miami or south. Even then, I remember one December in the Keys when we had to turn on the space heaters at night (in the 40s)
