I'm looking at buying a mastercraft x80. I will be new to the inboard scene. I currently own a 280 formula bowrider and love it, but would like to start wakesurfing. The reason I'm looking at the x80 is due to us boating on a large lake with a lot of big waves being thrown on the main lake(want something safe for kids). Im not looking at becoming a pro rider, just want to have fun with the family and do some cruising around. lDoes anyone own one and if so, how does it ride etc? Thanks for any info.

We almost bought a 2008 X80 and couple months ago ... Had the Check in hand drove out to Water Test it...
I will say, we loved this boats looks and overall Awesomeness from seeing them out on Lake Powell..
When took it on the Lake it was less impressive...it big and kind of sluggish ..
Not as much room inside as other 28 foot boats....
Others will chime in here too...but it was not a very successful Boat for MC..

It was Replaced by a nicer X55... With nearly the same room...and more storage....

Most X80s have twins, you would think it was a rocket....it was not...

There are quite a few for sale for $80k or less..

We did not end up getting it, it have thumping in starboard Transmission and a mismatched trailer...

Hopefully a current or former owner can give u a more thorough evaluation

I will say, with NO-ballast I was able to shape up a rideable Surf wake with the on board Trim Tabs....the boats owner had no idea it was possible....you could switch from regular to goofy wake in about 10-15 seconds....
