I have white on my rub rail and magic eraser isn't taking it off. Anything more aggressive I could use? I was thinking of wet sanding it but scared it would make it look rough looking.

I have a black rub rail and use brake cleaner sprayed onto a shop towel and it cleans it off with a little elbow grease. Test it in a spot first. DON'T SPRAY IT ON DIRECTLY. Strips every bit of wax off gel.

I wet sanded the rub rail on my old boat and buffed it out. It looked fine and was not dull at all. I even took out some other scratches from the rub rail as well. I would try the brake cleaner first, but like he said, don't spray that directly on the rub rail. You may want to wax the rub rail after.

Thanks for the tip, I have the same issue as well.

I have used automotive bug and tar remover effectively, and it isn't quite as harsh as brake cleaner.

Acetone. Also removes scuff marks on gelcoat.

Goof off works great. As does soft scrub.

As mentioned spray it or pour it on the magic eraser/ rag. Both with magic eraser have taken anything I have ever put on it right off with minimal elbow grease.

Wow, so many things to try. I have tried the magic eraser and soft scrub. It didnt work. My rub rail is brand new and from a fishing boat and it's from slamming into the dock which is wrapped in a white protective edge. It's like it's imbedded into the rub rail.
