I just read a report that the administration has evicted 60 families who's home is on Lake Mead residing on Federal land.

Any truth to this or experiences?

Looks like it is true. Maybe they should kick out the people living in the White House isn't that federal land?

Although Lake Mead is a National Recreation Area it is managed by the National Park Service so they completely shut it down. A protest is planned tonight by BoulderBoats by towing boats down the Vegas strip tonight starting at 6pm.

Perfect. If I was there, I would tow as well. At an extremely slow pace, with an extension long enough for my WS420 sq to reach the cab and my boats stereo as a PA

Looks like our annual October trip down to Overton/Echo Bay may not happen this year if the politicians can't get their act together.

I am incensed about all this. There's an Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway... concession to Feds.. no fed dollars used... he got shut down - 100 non fed employees not paid... http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/10/04/blue-ridge-parkway-pisgah-inn/2923169/

The entire Fed gov't should be embarrassed about closing the open air memorial... when the honor flight arrived last week.:mad::mad:

It's rediculous. Yet they get paid for doing nothing and don't have to adhere to the policies they think are so great for the rest of us.

Just like the 50 useless aldermen of the fine City of Chicago

Hey Ward 39 is doing really well.

Just kidding.

Can anyone verify that military commissary and PX stores will be reopening on Monday. I did see that some in the Hampton Roads area will be open on Monday.

So gotta ask the question.......when do we consider this a dictatorship or do we have a little further to go?

The president finally caved and is allowing states pay for their own parks if they want. All states not just WI. They did it in defiance.

Also, he probably didn't want to look worse considering Fisher House just paid 280,000 to families of soldiers lost since Oct1.

I pray to god that someone somewhere can prove that he didn't pay the VA benefits for political gain. The "pay our military act"" clearly states all military and it's affairs. Such as veterans affairs included. However, DOD had some ***** lawyer decide it translated to active duty only.

Yes - because Congress as a whole has a 10% approval rating but individual members have really high approval. The mind seat is "my guy is great, it's all those other idiots." All the while not recognizing that we should elect people that can effectively bargain and compromise. Since Gingrich, that doesn't get you elected, especially after the tea party pushed the polar extremes farther (I'm a centrist republican btw). Now people are elected when they say "elect me, I'll never compromise with the other guys". Congress doesn't work well with that kind of behavior.

We need to clean house and eject the majority from congress. Then elect people based on policy agenda and that want to get policies done vs just be involved (a massive freshman class can't be worse than what we've got).

IMHO

I'll add three things. Term limits, no lawyers, and congress can not enact any legislation that they themselves don't have to adhere to.

I'm a huge supporter of that last point for the house and the senate! I do like people that understand laws, have read the constitution and have at vague to accute understanding of how to create and change legislation. The last thing we need is for Stephen Colbert to get elected as a joke. Though he's more adept with DC than the average Kmart shopper.

Wow! Only one blame the President comment. I'm impressed! For those of you that were sleep during government class it's the job of Congress to pass an annual appropriations budget for the federal government.
