Had some scrap teak and thought it might be make a nice cup holder. I used some scrap aluminum angle that I cut with my scroll saw and finessed with my Dremel tool. The pylon clamp is a left over tower rack mount. Works very well and is extremely strong.

That is VERY cool!! You mind if I try to copy your design? Alternately, if you're willing to make more, I'll buy one from you. :)

I'll say this; Seacup has one of the cleanest detailed machines I have seen. Lift the engine cover and it's like a magazine show picture ( a newly rebuilt engine with lots of extras beyond stock). The cup holder is very functional and sturdy, and the rest of the machine is pretty much flawless.

Yeah it's nice, but now this is just going to open up a whole bunch of "how do I refinish my teak cup holder" threads......great. :-)

Beautiful work!

The function of it was smart.....His lady likes to get tea from places that use large round cups that aren't 12oz. aluminum can diameter. All the factory cup holders in that area have holders that fit a can, not a drink cup from most serving establishments. So the holders in his nice "pylon cup holder" fit a drink that's in a cup with girth...

I like it too! I just broke my lower plastic one because of my boom connector block. I'd love to make something like this too!

I want to see pics of the rest of the boat.

Has to be cool if it the details are as nice as the cup holder.

Details on the mount? I am thinking about my own project similar to your cup holder design with some wood I have around. Yours looks amazing.

what is the ID of the clamp you are using or can someone measure the OD of the pylon at around the same height for me, I am a 1000 miles away from my boat right now.

That is a great idea, and nice looking.

It could also be made from StarBoard synthetic, for those that aren't MCOCD about teak.

btw, I would buy one if available ? :)
