I have a 93 Indmar 351 windor motor. It has a carter fuel Pump on it.
The pump has a fuel filter on the underside of it. Picture attached.
Has anyone bypassed this mechanical pump and installed a electric pump.
What are the concerns with installing a automotive fuel pump. other than the return hose to the carb.

I believe that this has been covered before, and a search may be useful.
One major point that I remember concerning the auto style was the possible spark/fire issue.

I would think there are a few points to look at. Is your electric a pusher, or a puller, location of the pump would be critical with either.
Second, the pressure and gpm your electric pump. Then comes the wiring, and relays. Then comes the issue of making sure you have NO LEAKS.
I doubt it would be beneficial. Why the interest in converting?

There is no need for an electric fuel pump on a carbed engine. More trouble than it is worth. Why convert something to electrical(that could potentially cause other problems), when you have mechanical system that works just fine?
