Can anyone explain why Diesel is so much higher than regular?
Better yet, can anyone explain why gasoline is so much higher. I think the hurricane excuse is BS. Someone is getting very rich right now, and it isn't the guys paying out the nose at the pumps.

I would like to see Premium that low here.

Heating the house this year is going to be pricey!

Anyway, yes, and today was the first official commute in it. But just to get the PIG home yesterday, OUCH!

They say natural gas here is going to be 52% higher than last year. I will be thanking myself for doing that monster insulation job this year.....

My opinion is that the oil companies are inflating the prices to >$3/gallon so people will be happy when the prices are back at $2.50. A year ago we'd have been fuming at $2.50, but now we're "content" (not sure if you were serious or not Mitch).

I have a few friends who have already fallen victims to FUEL THEFT. Believe it or not. Open cap, siphon fuel, gone. Did not put cap back on or close door. That was the only way they noticed. And locking caps sometimes don't work, locks stick, then your screwed.

So what can be done? Stop driving, is that it????

I live here in Alberta (Montana with Oil and Gas) and just so you guys know the world market price for NG is over $13.00 GJ and last year it was already sky high at $6.00 GJ
Alberta supplies over 50% of the USA needs in NG and we keep an eye on these prices. Alberta also has the second largest amount of proven oil reserves in the world with only the Saudis having more.
Oil and gas WILL crash again as it has been a boom and bust cycle for the last hundred years.

Looks like Diesel isnt so bad here in my area, saw the following this morning.
Regular: 2.499
Plus: 2.599
Premimum: 2.699
Kerosene: 2.799
Diesel: 2.899

Kerosene is the real rip off here, it should be much lower as there are no road taxs to pay.

Despite the hype propogated by media morons, hybrids represent fractions of a percent of the total vehicle sales. Yes there is a couple months wait for them but how many are made per year - 60,000 MAYBE? That's peanuts. I don't have the figs in front of me and don't have the time to go look but I think it's safe to say they will never reach significant market penetration. Even if they did, global demand is skyrocketing so it won't matter.

The whole hybrid thing is one of my pet peeves (obviously, right?!?) as the public isn't being told the whole story. I can't wait until your average middle-aged female tree-hugging Prius owner gets a bill for new batteries, generators, disposal fees, etc. in about 60k miles. It will cost about as much as the car is worth at that point.

Bring on the hydrogen car!!! Or better yet, the flux capacitor with the canooten valved bypolar jiqawattster.
Or,
we all quit our jobs at the same time, then we all get first dibs on the closet jobs available at our favorite lakes, and start all over, and take our bikes to work, and won't ever worry about a tow rig again. And since we are talking fairy tails, how about ridin horses? (Or is that not politically correct to say anymore because of peta)

I'll buy that. My brother just picked up an 05 Durango (used w/ about 20K miles). Off lease. (he did not heed the JRandol warning)

Dealer was selling it for about $15-$16K.

The Dealer gave 2 Reasons....#1 Gas prices. #2 Employee pricing on new SUV's was pushing used pricing to seriously low levels.

The cause and effect of high gas prices will have the biggest impact on gas consumption in the US........hybrids are but a drop in the bucket. I have also heard that the EPA is going to re-rate the mileage of many of the hybrids due to the unrealistic conditions that are used to rate them.

This should ruffle some feathers:

Did you see what those guys are making individually?!?

I think as punishment Congress should force them (if they could) to sell gas at $.50/gallon for the next 10 years.

The reason Diesel is still so expensive is that diesel is the same thing as heating oil and since its winter there is a high demand for it. It will start to drop in spring (if we dont have enother natural disaster like a huricane)
