I'm thinking of blinging up the dock a bit. On the 8" cleats, what is the diameter of the attachment bolts, and how long are they?

I also echo the other two. I'd also like 4 but being a brand new member does give me some pause. Interesting, we all have 94-95 205's  :headbang:

Just FYI though - I was at the local BU dealer a few hours ago and looked at the cleats on their boats. They were all 6" wide and did look just a tad big. So, 8" is definitely too big for me and the 4" looks to be the appropriate size.

Hi Guys, sorry about this late reply, i was away from my computer this weekend. I acquired these from a good friend of mine, who is a re-seller. originally i was planning on put them on my boat, but i decided against it as they are going to be a permanent addition and i'm not yet ready to take that plunge. My friend suggested selling them second hand as I got them at a great price so i went here on the forums.

Thanks for the reply. Just wondering why you listed your boat as a Alberg 37' (which I assume is a sailboat) instead of a Mastercraft? You said you "were" going to install them on your boat but decided against it. I'm just curious why you were going to install Mastercraft logo cleats onto a non-Mastercraft boat?

Oh that was one of my favorite boat i had, back in the day. My current boat is a 2000 230 SV, 22 footer with a north star v8. i should probably change it too the master craft, need to stop reminiscing on my sail boat days.

of course, i completely understand all concerns. I would be more than happy to do anything to earn the trust of TeamTalk members. i have already shipped out 1 cleat to M1_corey if you'd like to wait till he receives it, and he reports back, that is perfectly OK with me.

The mounting compared too regular cleats are very different. the drilling holes are alot larger, 3/4", and the distance center to center is: 2". Going from your existing cleats to these shouldn't be a problem. It is however a very permanent upgrade, which is why i got cold feet.

How do these mount up? Do you have to glass in any additional support, or just drill and bolt 'em in? I'm currently tying my dock lines to the grab rails, but I'd like to have cleats for that instead.

No, from what i understand you just drill the mounting holes, and bolt em up. they're very sturdy, and will hold up a lot better in the long run then your grab rail. they also fold away nice and easy, keeping the, out of the way.

You should not use the gran rails to tie up... they are not made for that... cleats, bow lifting ring, rear lifting rings and sky pylon good for tying up...

That's why I asked about the reinforcement. I fail to see any difference between a grab rail and a cleat if both are simply bolted thru the glass of the hull. Still, I'll be picking up some of these because they look good and are quicker to tie to. And, of course, they're made for that!

@dfski, I've got a 205V XStar, I'll have a look tomorrow and track down a suitable spot for them. Let me know if you come across anything. They appear to not need much of a flat spot to mount.

They are only holes until you put the cleat through them and tighten them up. Then they are just cleats.
