Hi all,

I'm from france and I'm looking for a MasterCraft boat and specially looking for a PROSTAR 190 from around 1990...

I've find one close to my area but the owner looks to be wrong on the model...

He told me that it's boat is Prostar 190 from 1988 but it looks like a 1986 model...

As I may found here some MasterCraft specialist, could you help me to define which model is it exactly and from which year...

You will find some pics enclosed to my message...

I want to really thank you for this forum cause I have found a lot of information and I'm happy to read posts...

This boat has apparently 1089h of work... does it look coherent ?

I think the color and the look are not the genuine one ? Am i wrong ?

And to finish, the price for this boat is 7000 (around 9500$) trailer included, is it a normal price for this boat ?

Thank you for your kind help regarding my questions...

others will chime in but it looks to have been painted as well as having an aftermarket platform on the rear. Not sure what a 86 MC should cost in France but here with 1100 hours it would be a $6500K boat if it were well maintained, I would think. I had an 89 and am pretty sure this is an 86 as you mentioned. I sold an 89 with 400 hours on it for $9500 about 2 years ago - but it had a tower and stereo/amp/tower speakers.

That's not an 88. They looked completely different, you can always tell by the windshield and Air intake. I think this would be an 86 with new paint and decals.

Thank you so much for your quick reply...
I was thinking it was a bit expensive ... and the new paint and decals doesn't inspire me confidence on this boats... I do really prefer to find one with the genuine paint... even if I need to paint it myself...
Thanks a lot guys, very helpful for me...
What do you think about the hours (1089hrs) does it means that I will have some big service to do or big repair in a close future (I think about the gearbox... engine ...)
Your experience will be appreciated...

Thx again...

Check the last two digits of the serial number to get the year of the boat. I agree it looks like the pre 1988 hull.

'88 model year in France might not look like one from the US.

I think this has been covered before. Hopefully Jim@BAWS or someone will know for sure. But definitely check the last two digits of the HIN.

IIRC MC marketed a boat in Europe named the ProComp in 1987 and maybe later. In looked like the US '86 and I think they were all powered by Indmar engines. Perhaps a clever way for MC to squeeze a little extra $$ out of those molds.

Where is the gas fill? I can't tell if I'm looking at the stern light or the gas cap. Gas cap should be on the passenger side. Looks like an 86' to me.
