Notice last time out trying to pull skier up that at 1/4 trottle motor would just bog down wouldn't change with throttle advance. Just had to to turn around and try again. Only does under load not in neutral. We skied course on and off for 2 hrs and only did this like 2 times. Things to check?????

Fuel filters first. Then run a can of seafoam through it. It's amazing what this stuff can do for your fuel system. Those are the cheapest things to start with, then you get into fuel pressure, fuel pump and so on.

At throttle all the way down, does the boat get stuck at about 2,000 rpms?

If so, see my thread about the reduction mode of our 94 LT1.

I would suggest checking a few thing:

1-Check to make sure battery terminals are all clean.

2-Check fuel pump for pressure. We replaced ours as it was only pushing out a minimal amount comapred to what a new one should provide.

3-Check fuel filter for any obstructions.

4-Check connections on coil packs and make sure they are all clean.

It is likely one of the above...just my guess.

Sorry typing response while one above this one posted...

There is a screen under the inlet brass fitting of the pump.Mine gets clogged with carpet fibers, dog hair and other crap. When this happen,i get the same problems that you are getting.
Make sure it is clean.

Should have mentioned this in org post. This spring I was having problems getting full rpms out at wot. I checked pump screen, psi at idle and wot, out new plugs wires cleaned coil ends where plugs connect. All checked out fine. Maybe it's time to just put a new pump in it?

Maybe recheck fuel pressure now that it s bogging more.
What was fuel pressure when you had problems this spring. How many rpm were you turning:confused:

42 psi key on
38 at idle
42-43 through full rpm range
I was only getting 3600 to 3800 cracked plug replaced plugs and wires and got close to 44 mph at 4600

My fix was the following
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is the list I did to solve my issue which sounds like yours.
I believe I would look at ECT Sensor on the front of the circularing pump first its cheap $16.00 It has two wires going to it. I would pick up a new fuel filter and pull the fuel pump located on the rear of the engine, clean the inlet screen, hopefully it has not ran for long clogged as mine was.

I installed the new sensor and it ran like a champ !
I believe I had multiple problems

I changed:
1. fuel pump due to filter being so clogged I figured it was weak, even after cleaning it was making a bad sound
2. Spark plugs when I changed them out they were in very bad shape
3. Temp sensor
4. cleaned fuel cell and pickup
5. new fuel filter
6. 140 degree thermostat and 160 drilled thermostats
7. new water circulating pump old one was shot
Honestly the boat has never ran this good since I have owned it we had a great day on the water today!

Question?
Are there two fuel pumps on these boats (mine is 94 prostar 205 with 350 Chev)...one on port stern side of engine by fuel filter and one in fuel tank?

You checked the pressure- did you purge the air from the gauge? Your pressure s higher than it should be on a '95- normally, it's 30 pounds. Don't replace the pump if it's not warranted.

How old are the plugs? Old gas? Have you ever looked at the fuel pickup tube that's in the tank? After 18 years, it's time to do that. Also, look for a fuel shutoff valve connected at the outlet of the tank- if the lever isn't in-line with the fuel line, it needs to be. Does the exhaust smell like gas?

Your pump shouldn't be that much. The boat shown with your name is a '95- that's correct, right? If so get the part number from the existing pump and google that, not the Carter in-tank pump, which you DON'T have.

Only one pump, on the engine.

Thanks JimN, and the filter that is often discussed that needs cleaning, is that in the pump or in the fuel tank?

They started using the in-tank pump/filter in 2000, IIRC. You may have two filters but they can't be cleaned. If you have one at the tank, make sure to change that one first- it catches the large particles.
