Welcome to Team Talk. You have a great looking boat, and there are quite a few people on here with Stars & Stripes boats with all the info you could need. Ask virtually any question and someone here is likely to have the answer.

The 351W (Windsor, as in originally made in Windsor, Ontario across the river from Detroit) is a 5.8 liter engine, not 5.7. The 5.7 is the Chevy 350.

I don't remember who was the marinizer for the Mastercrafts then, but if it was PCM, you can find a copy of the engine manual here (http://www.correctcraftfan.com/reference/) at the CCfan website.

The 351W is a great engine and found in the majority of the inboards from this era. Parts are readily available. There are several bolt-on performance upgrades as well. You can get a better alternator, starter, and coil for pretty good prices. One thing that is tough to come by and expensive is the Oil Pan.... so take good care of it!

That would have a PCM engine in it.

Really nice decal sets are available from Jim at Bay Area Watersports in Florida.

By a new wheel, are you referring to a new steering wheel?

Dash switches shouldn't be a problem. Do you have the push/pull style?

Not sure where you would find a genuine wheel unless you got one from a boat that was being parted out. Most guys that are replacing steering wheels, me included, have purchased Grant Marine steering wheels and the necessary adapter.

just looked the classic series wheels look good i think i might invest in one of those also is there a spruce up kit for the dash as the laminate wood effect is looking a bit worse for wear
thanks

Replacing the adhesive vinyl on the dash is easy enough. Removing the gauges and getting them wired properly again is the tough part. Take lots of pictures.

The vinyl is available from a local sigh shop.

Same thing on the switches. Any decent marine shop should have those or be able to order them.

Check your transmission fluid level. If it is low it can slip. Also check for a brown look (instead of redish) or for a burned smell. If you haven't replaced it in the last year, I would remove the fluid and refill.

Edit: Saw the tube was attached at the lower eye, not the top of the pylon. Nevermind! Welcome to TT!
