Hi guys.

Im looking for a bit of advice on the above boats. Ive currently got a uk built 1987 skier/pro comp which ive had for 3 years.

I viewed a 91 prostar with a brand new engine, new galvanised trailer, tower and very clean upholstery. The engine was changed due to frost damage. I realise that this is the same engine as I have in mine which to be fair I dont mind as I plan to convert it to lpg and with the holley carb its a diy job. The guy wants £7000.

I have also viewed a 1994. The hull is in fair condition but the upholstery is shot and theres no tower. The engine has done 1200 hours and theres no service documentation. Its an injection model which I now nothing about other than it will cost £1800 to convert to lpg. Its up at £6500.

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated. Im no mechanic but managed to maintain the 351 and convert to lpg. The injection model concerns me as I guess it will be harder to maintain and lpg is a must due to uk fuel prices.

Cheers in advance. Gaz

Gaz at the asking prices for the two think I would go for the 91, not to sure if there is much difference in the two 91 to 94 think the hull change was in 95, as you say the 91 has the basic 351 ford no fancy bits to go wrong and easily maintained, also easy convert to LPG, fuel injected different case, I have gone through the same thing from 87 prostar on LPG to a 2005 197 with all the electronics you can can think of, on petrol, looked at LPG conversion for the 2005 it was expensive and not a DIY job, apart from changing the oil and plugs not a lot you can do if it goes wrong its a trip to the dealers, the basic 351 is easy to work on if it goes wrong anybody with a bit of knowledge should be able to sort out.
That 94 sounds like it needs a bit of cash to sort it out on top of the initial purchase cost.
Good look

91-94 hulls are the same. The 91 sounds like a better buy for you for not much more $$. (how much more is that in US dollars?)

Got any pics?
Just curious, how much is petrol compared to LPG in the UK?

Petrol in the uk approx £1.37 per ltr, LPG approx 60p per ltr
That's approx $2.12 per ltr and LPG $.93 ltr

Thanks for the input guys.

ive got another viewing on the 91 next week, with a water trial too. My gut instinct Told me the 91 was the better option due to its simplicity to work on. I tried negotiating a deal less than 7k but the guy wont budge.

Mark I noticed your in sheffield, do you ski at treeton? Im from high green. Just got back from lake annecy in france, 1600 mile round trip but the skiing was brilliant.

£7000 is $10500. The uk market for Mc's is a strange, one month theyre worth a fortune and the next you cant give them away! The joys of a recession. ...

No not treeton any more used to be there about 12 years ago, now at Humber bridge.
Lake annecy looks good never been we usually go to Italy, lake orta but not for a couple of years, was looking at lac amance in France for this year but my sons wedding put paid to that for this year.
As you say if your selling they're not worth anything but when you want to buy one they jump up in value ??????
Good look with the boat I honestly think the 91 sounds the one.

I can definitely recommend annecy, the water is crystal clear and the town is amazing. We are at billabong, just past beverley, it feels like a duck pond after france!
