I ordered a replacement alternator for my 1988 TriStar and sent in my core and there are multiple problems with the fit. The main bolt hole is too small, it has a capacitor in a different location than the old one there are a number of other visual differences. Was I sent the wrong alternator from the MasterCraft dealer or does the standard replacement alternator simply require various modifications to be made to fit? This would surprise me greatly since this engine is so common. Thank you.

Welcome to Team Talk. Sorry to see you come here with a problem but we will sure try to help resolve it. What MC dealer did you work with? Have you called them about this yet? any pictures of new and old alternators?

Thanks, first problem I have had with the boat since my parents bought it when it was two years old in 1990, certainly can't complain :-) I currently have it stored out-of-state I have attached an a web image of my setup. Thanks!

Since you didn't get a direct replacement for what you sent in, I would start by talking with where you got your alternator from.

It came from the closest Mastercraft dealership which is Pine crest marina in Indianapolis Indiana. The main parts guy I ordered it from has been on vacation for two weeks and get back to day so I will hopefully get my answers then.
