A body tow a newer x2 with a Tacoma? I am looking at downgrading my tow vehicle for better as mileage. Just curious if a Tacoma with tow package would be adequate.

I would think so. Tacoma with tow package is rated at 6500 pounds. X2 loaded up on a tandem should be around 6000. Some will say you need a 3/4 ton to pull a prostar, but I'm not one of those.

I towed a 24' travel trailer behind my Tacoma, but it was a little hairy in a cross wind. That said, there is a whole lot less side area on an X2 than a travel trailer. I think it would be good with a tandem trailer, not sure I'd want to do it with a single axle trailer though.

I would think it would pull it just fine. I cant say about gas mileage improvement. I get 12 MPG towing with my dodge 1500.

It will tow it fine. I have a 2012 4x4 double cab and use it to tow my 205. I don't think you will be real impressed with the gas mileage.

I towed my 2006 X9 with a single axel trailer about 300 miles a few weeks ago with a 2013 4 door Tacoma and it did great. It burned a lot of gas, I think I averaged around 8 mpg. Total weight of the boat and trailer is about 4000 lbs.

It'll squat the back of the Taco pretty good. X2s on tandem trailers at least are pretty nose heavy. May want to look into shoring up the rear springs if you're towing any long distances.

All I can say is that my x2 on a single axle trailer is the worst thing I've ever had behind a vehicke . Thing is like pulling an anchor.

You should be fine, I pulled a 2006 Yamaha ar210 - 21ft dual engine jet boat, tower, gear, etc with an 05 Tacoma and it did just fine. A little lacking on braking power but towed fine, I would recommend the 4x4, we had a tough time with a 2x4 at times.

if not 4x4 atleast get one of the TRD packages to get the locking rear differential. That little button got me out of alot of jams when I had my truck.
