So the new project just made the 1100 mile trip and boy she looks pretty sexy well at least the out side... Time to sort tag and make a list of what will be needed...

Looks great on the outside. Doesn't usually look like that under the motor box? What was the story on this boat?

Just let me know when you want to part with that fiberglass swim platform. I've been looking for a glass one!

Demo: No I let The other one go to a tt member out in colorado. He contacted me about it and was going to do more than I was .. He also has a 1993 blue metal flake stars and stripes so thought it would have a good home. He just did a complete inside renew on it and its sitting up at BAWS right now " thinking about taking this one up there for a side by side" jim went thought it and put his magic on it..

This one i got from another tt member up in pitt. Looked cleaner than the last one I had I like all the originality of this one interior is in great condition and it has a ton of goodies... Perfect pass, Fiber glass plat form, coded push button start, Teak Plat form, Bimini, Ann edition cover, Heater, Hot cold shower. BUT no motor lol.. I Think this one will be a looker when buffed and put together.

Ericb: Not sure what i want to do with the rear plat forms.. The white one looks good but im partial to teak so i can keep you in mind. Unless you want to make me part with it and recoup some money lol... pm me

Thatsmaster: got a question is there any conversion for miles on a motor compared to hours in a boat.. Thinking if i should just but a motor with high miles and refresh it.. Bearings, pistons, rings and do head refreshing seats and valve guides ?? .. there are kits for about 500$ just for the block . or should i just get a low mile engine and throw it in..

Recommend oil filter relo kit for lt1 if it is like mine. Sucks. Real bad.

gsxrjtt
08-02-2013, 01:02 PM
mine is on the passenger side of the boat right in the middle side on the engine compartment ??? is that stock or where does the relocation kit go ?

There is no set number for the miles-hours figure. Most direct drive engines are good for 2,000 hours if they are maintained well. There is nothing wrong with installing a good used engine. My boat was repowered prior to me getting it due to not being winterized. I have a 1000 hour boat with a 500 hour engine that purrs like a kitten at idle and roars at WOT. Going the short block route is also a fine alternative. Be sure to freshen the heads if you go this route.

I resprayed most things when I rebuilt the engine except for the exhaust manifolds, I did not want to get into redoing the silver letters on there, maybe down the road. :D

Mine is on the LH side of engine at the back. Right against the tranny. I can barely get a specially cut out bleach bottle under it, there is about 1/8" gap byw filter and rib on the trans. Really hard to get a filter wrench on it. Plus I try to poke holes to drain most of oil out which helps minimize mess.

If yours is further fwd, that would help. 2" would be monumental. Or if the powers lot leaves you more space.

Just an update went with Buying a Brand new reman long block with 2 year warranty.. Should be here in the next week or so. Will get pics .. Should i replace the Hour meter also for the new motor ?? Tranny only has 40 hours on it as well.

I wouldn't change out the hour meter. But I would take a photo of the bill of sale for the new motor along side the hour meter to document hours at the time of the install.

This sounds like good advice.

thats what I was thinking but.. Since new motor and what not.. If I keep the old tach and do the new gauge why wouldn't you want to know exact hours of a new motor pretty much a new boat IMO since that 95% on the running gear is new.

With a paper trail I would think you're fine to swap gauges. If I were buying and I saw the paperwork and old tach I wouldn't suspect anything funny. Extremely nice boat.

you going back with LT1 like original?

gsxrjtt
08-27-2013, 08:24 PM
yea not going to disrespect a boat like a 1993 LT1 limited.. cost me 3k but hey I think itll be a great boat for me or someone else

I'm kind of the thinking keep it as original as possible. As you said, a limited edition boat that's as much factory as possible would be what "I" as a buyer would like to see. Kind of like restoring an old vette or something in those lines.

Doesn't the engine's ECU also keep track of the hours as well?

Went with a guy local here who ordered it in. Will get all info from office asap. and yes the ECU will track the hours from original

Do MEFI 1-2 ECMs track hours?

gsxrjtt
08-28-2013, 09:05 PM
yes the last 93 limited I had was taken to BAWS and they said it showed 650 hours on the timer but the motor only showed 575 running hours.. Key on i guess ran the timer up

Are you building it back to stock?

Nice looking engine internals....

Thanks .. No I dont think im going to paint it.. Honestly looks to good and to clean to ruin it. I think with all the covers and new oil pan put back on it itll look good.. Unless you guys say paint it because for some reason thats the way its supposed to be ????...

Cloaked: It was expensive lets say that lol.. But brand new motor completely in and out and made by a company who built it with marine specs. 2 year warranty etc.

I think most of the LT-1s were painted black. I would think you would want to paint it or it will rust in the marine environment. You could also go with a silver to match the exterior flake. Now so the time to do it while it is outs of the boat and clean.

Yes, the LT-1 is painted black, or at least it is in my MC.

As mentioned earlier, I would definitely encourage painting the engine. It may look pretty now, but that will go away quickly once you start using it. I like the silver idea; that would add to the unique vibe that this boat already has being an Anniversary Edition.

Update.. So went to check out the motor today looks great. They are taking their time sorting, cleaning and repainting what needs to be done. Decided to get new Belt, belt Tensioner, Hoses, waterpump, Hoses for raw water strainer, Thermostats 2 of them, spark plug wires. Want everything with in reason to look new as possible under the hood :) ... Glad the trans was rebuilt only 40 hours ago...

It's getting there! Last time I was up at Bay Area the motor was still on the hoist. You might want to paint the Indmar Logos on the exhaust manifolds silver in keeping with the originality theme.

Update: After I had to move the boat from Bay Area Watersports. I had another shop finish up the installation. After a couple kerfufls and some miss communication the engine is up and running. Last thing to do is clean 2 fuel injectors and she will be ready for a maiden voyage hopefully next tuesday jan 21st. Hopefully pics to come when she's on the water.
