At the dealer today and was told 8/7 is the big Prostar launch. Not sure if I'll be able to sleep in the meantime.

Couldn't help myself. Concerned about the spork treatment to a ski boat.

I'm sure that with the investment required to produce a new platform or even a freshening of a current platform a tremendous amount of time and money has been spent to make sure it works better than planned. What's more important, form or function? Or is it both? In my world, when GM or Ford produces a newly designed unit we hold our breath wondering if we will like it and more importantly if the buying public will like it. I can remember when the Chevy truck cracked the $20K mark and we thought we would never sell another truck. Nobody will spend that much, right? Now a F450 busts $70k and people line up to buy them.
Whatever the new Prostar turns out to be or cost, the good news is they are making it. People will like it and buy it. The big plus for us old schoolers is as those boats go up in price so does the preowned market and when it does you can tell your wife, "see, it is an investment".

I am super psyched. Happy to see the commitment to our sport remains. I am also certain there is some real brilliance and revolution of design in a new flagship ski tug.

I am very psyched.

Hope it includes a 214 DD

Withholding judgement (for or against) until I've seen it and read the spec sheet.

If it is a radical new design, I hope it works out better and is better received than the Infinity was.

I'm holding back judgement until I ski behind one...

Hopefully, I'll work a deal with out local dealer to sponsor one during my club's ski league in 2014. I figure with 10-12 potential buyers, they should be willing to give them all a pull.

Forget the back seat - what's needed is a more comfortable engine hump (for her) :D :D :D

Actually the "for her" part is no joke.
If I'm going to sell her on a ski boat, its gotta have a little something to make her "think" she is getting what she wants. Again I said think... its all about perception , he he...

Willy ! No need for that kind of smack talk ! My direct drive family has shown you kindness so please allow us one little DD in the product lime.

Product "lime" ? Ooops I meant product line ... :) where did I leave the Rum and coke?

In the new Prostar 201.6 Direct Drive slalom and trick machine, complete with really awesome stuff and billet goodness plus some really soft wakes, and a sweet sleek look on the water.

How is that for a vague guess?

Cannot wait to see one!

I don't know if I'm excited. I'm more cautiously optimistic and hoping for pleasant surprise. The last time I got excited about a boat was for the 40th Anniversary edition and, suffice it to say, it wasn't my cup of tea.

I hope it's amazing.

My local dealer is already putting together an event for us to come check out the new boat in person toward the end of August. I'm cautiously optimistic about it as a whole. I'm hoping that the wake and price will be competitive with the SN200 since that seems to be the boat that's setting the bar right now.

i was suggesting it would be a DD surf boat... and they're kinda cramping my style too, i hate waves that roll up and down my river....

you left your rum and coke at norris. want to leave tomorrow to go get it?

I hope it is classy and not too trendy. That being said, there a lot of 100k trendy boats now that will look dated in a few years. That only helps the resale value of slightly older classy dd boats.

I can think back in 2000 when the Evo hull was introduced how futuristic it seemed. I love owning a 2001 Evo hull and most people think its only a few years old and not 12.

Hoping the new hull is as recognizable and great looking as the Evo!

I cannot agree with you more. Some of the boats that are out now (I am thinking the neon greens) will be very outdated in just as few years. Hopefully its an updated but classic look.

The pure DD ski boats seem to hold their value well. It's the crossover direct drives that seem to drop like rocks. 197's hold their value pretty well at the moment.

Looking forward to 8/7.
