The boss and I have been toying with the idea of a new(er) boat. Shade is very important to us as she has already had melanoma x2 and our kids are fair skinned. We're interested in either an 05-07 X45 or a 06-07 X30. Would there be any difference in the size of the bimini? Thanks.

Most of the bimini manufacturers can build a variety of sizes based on your needs. I got a big one for my boat (4-bow, covers from the pylon behind the rear seats to over the dash), and lowered it to where I had to stoop a bit to walk under it. Even a big bimini too high in the air lets a lot of sunlight in when the sun isn't directly overhead. I ordered mine from GMI (now ANP (http://catalogue-us.anp.ca/products/1-Bimini_tops/2-Bimini_Tops__Universal_/3-Build_your_top/)), but there are a lot of places that can do the same thing.
Make sure to wear a surfer's rash guard (http://www.amazon.com/Rash-Guard-Long-Sleeve-Solid/dp/B000JWNPMO), and put them on the kids too. I wear them tighter than the female model in the link and about as tight as the male model, and don't even notice that I'm wearing it. It holds moisture for a little while, so I stay cooler for longer after I get out of the water than bare skin. They last a couple of years for me if I don't wear them in chlorinated pools.
