Hi all.. I scraped some rocks last weekend and put some scratches in the gelcoat that are down to the fiberglass in some spots.. I checked it out with a scuba mask. I don't have a good way to get it out of the water right away. Does anyone know how soon I should try to get the boat out of the water before damage to the fiberglass starts to occur?
Thanks
Mike

Gel is cosmetic only... the fiberglass below it wont be damaged due to water exposure. Depending on the type of resin MC used, it *might* be sensitive to UV- but being on the underside of the boat, I wouldnt worry about it until the off season.

If it soaks up water then it will have to be ground completely out until you reach dry fibers before you can conduct a repair.

If you can get it on a lift and let it dry, you could put some 3M 4000 on it until you can get it repaired.
