View Full Version : Stolen spare tire on trailer - help!

Putting the boat away after a very nice day of boating and I see this...

D'oh! Can't believe I had it on my to-do list this week, to get a locking lug nut for the spare tire.

Need some help, I know the wheel is 14" diameter but I don't know the backspacing or the width of the rim. The tires are 215-75-14. I think the rim is 5.5" wide but don't know for sure.

Also don't know the size of the threads on the studs to get a new lug and a locking lug.

The trailer is a 1995 DHM tandem axle. Thanks in advance for the help!

Should be 1/2x20. Check the side of one of the lug nuts on your wheels, it should say the thread size.

When I bought a spare for my '08 tandem axle trailer, I purchased a white steal wagon wheel from Tractor Supply. It is 14x6 with a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern, and a standard off set. It worked great when I test fitted it. The studs are 1/2-20. I purchased a set of wheel locks and have 2 of them holding the wheel on the mount. If your trailer is a single axle, I think your bolt pattern will be different.

The lug is a 1/2x20 thread. The wheel is either a 14x5.5 or a 14x6......either will work. I carry chrome wheels but mine don't have the rivets.
