I started an adaptive water ski school this year on Lake Wisconsin called Colsac Skiers. We use a 1985 S&S. This summer it has pulled over 40 different people all together and over 20 with disabilities, 9 Wounded Warriors. Lots of pictures on Face Book Colsac Skiers group and a few on our website colsacskiers.com
Skiing on two skis as a side skier for someone who spends most of their time in a wheelchair is the most rewarding thing I have ever done.

Seth lost his arm in a corn auger when he was 4 years old. This is his first time ever water skiing.

Dan was hit by the second largest ever road side bomb in Afghanistan. He said he was lucky to be in one of the new Hum-Vees with the v-bottom armor plating to deflect the blast.

Great work tlukens. Can you tell us what you had to do to set the school up? IE, finding the location, permits, and insurance?
And what do you do in the offseason?

A tree fell on Laura while she was weeding her garden. Never water skied before her accident. Oh, and when it fell it took the power lines down with it and electrocuted her. 23 titanium ribs on her left side, 13 on her right, severed spinal cord. Her kids are 6 and 7 years old. "I'm so lucky to be alive." She told me.

I am a pilot, when I'm not working this is what I like to do. I have a small house on Lake Wisconsin near Merrimac. I formed a corporation, set up a 501c3, got a ton of insurance and pull people with disabilities like they are anyone else taking their turn trying to improve their skills.

Fantastic!

We host an adaptive clinic at our site each year and I love working the event. It's very rewarding! I highly recommend that if any of you have the opportunity to volunteer to assist in an adaptive clinic, it's the least you can do to give back to the sport you love.

Travis,

I was very impressed. What also struck me was the fact that you have young teens helping out from the looks of your video. What a way to involve them in giving back to the community. I visited your organizations web page and seen that you take donations. A small donation was sent your way.

So very cool that you and your other volunteers do this.

Using the teenagers is great. I can only ski so many times bent over holding onto the sit ski, the kids can go all day. What is also great about having the kids help out is they now look at people in wheel chairs differently than I did growing up, 2 years ago for that matter. My 14 year old nephew can walk up to someone in an electric wheel chair and talk to them like any other person. I can't tell you how proud I am of the kids that help out. They put in a 10 hour day, no pay, all volunteer. Of course they love to ski and sometimes we get a little time to pull them for a run.

Thanks Man! We don't charge anyone anything to go skiing. We are truly a 501c3 NON-PROFIT, no payroll, all volunteer. Every penny goes into the operation. Gas, gear, insurance, permits etc.

I'll start working on getting the letters out to donors soon so you can deduct your donation

Thanks again

On Wednesday the Ford Good Works program came and filmed us. We used our 2014 Prostar, our old 85, Dan Jaworskis 85 and Redline Water Sports (the Madison, WI MasterCraft dealer) brought out a 2015 Prostar. We pulled over 20 people with disabilities, most skied at least twice. It was an awesome day.

This is truly amazing what y'all are doing. I am very impressed.

If OK by TT and tlukens, I would like to propose that TT start a fundraise thread stickey for Colsac.

I would be glad to match up to a certain amount for the first 5-10 TT board member donations.

I see the note about MC putting forth a boat for this cause, but time for the rest of us to contribute to tlukens cause, eh?

Ski-it-again.com donates to several disabled sports groups that have water skiing components, and lists once a year how much money they give out. Colsac skiers needs to be one of their charities.

I have gotten to take part twice now in our local adaptive ski clinic. It is a great experience for all involved.
