Hi all,

Got a 2001 X-Star and will be replacing the gas springs all around (three back covers and observer's seat back). They're all 30 pound springs. Should I go back with 30 pounders or up the pressures? If up, to what?

I would stay stock. I wouldn't want the back covers to fly open when going down the road. And for the observer seat, definatly stay stock. That seat back is plastic and a stronger spring may warp it if it is too strong, especially if it the boat has the cover on and is sitting in the sun.

I bought mine from spd (http://www.spdhardware.com). The model number has changed since your boat was built, but the search should find them. I did stock for everything except the engine hatch. I went up to 40lbs.
