Wondering if anyone has had success with a patch material for a gas tank. Long story, but he needs to patch a small hole and JB Weld was not successful. Thoughts?

Metal. Leak is very small, maybe couple drips every few minutes. He is hesitant to go the stainless screw, washer and rubber gasket because the tank has some surface rust and he's not sure how much integrity there to screw into. He is getting rid of the car just needs something to get through a couple weeks while he decides on what he's going to get to replace it.

Use a mapp torch and braze over it.

Now that is funny....Not far from what I told him....Duct tape and the closest dealership to trade it in.

Clean area with alcohol then plug with lightly chewed bubble gum.

OK..Think we found a kit that he's going to try. FYI for anyone else that comes across something similar.

Find a local radiator shop and consult with them.

I have found it to be very reasonable to have a tank baked, welded, sealed and painted. Otherwise price the part on Rock Auto.

Seriously people this is a flipping fuel tank - no matter what you read on motorcycle forums leaking tanks should not be patched with glue.

A radiator shop can fix it- run it low, siphon the rest of the gas out and remove the tank. Wash it out, pour denatured alcohol in and use compressed air to dry it. Once it's at the shop, they'll know what to do. They usually fill it with Nitrogen or CO2 before starting.
