I have 1995 Maristar with Corvette engine. The temp never gets above 140 no matter how it's run or how long. Is it normal for this engine to always be running this temp? Seems like it should run warmer. Thanks!! Tim

Should run @ 160.

Do I need new thermostat if it doesn't? Can running this "cool" cause problems?

it will run inefficiently - needs 2 t-stats a 143 and a 160

You sure the LT-1 has two thermostats? If so, where is 2nd one?

Never mind last question. Found 2nd one. Thanks for help!!!! Tim

Where is your temp sensor for the gauge located on the engine? Mine is on the front of the engine on the mixing block and I read cold temps all the time. I have yet to move it to the left cylinder head where I think it should be (pics of other LT-1 engines show it on the head)

I checked mine with a Raytek and the actual engine temp is 160 +/- so my gauge is off and reading cold because of the sensor location. (gotta fix that)

Get an infrared temp gun and see what your actual engine temp is. It might be ok.

ALl of the injected engines have two sensors- one for the gauge (one wire) and the other for the ECM (two wires).

The upper thermostat is the 160, and it must have a bypass hole in it. By the proper marine version, or drill a hole otherwise no water gets to the heads until the thermostat opens.
