View Full Version : New Bimini Top

I got a Big Air Bimini top for my '99 205v, mounted to the ND Zero Flex Tower. I'm pretty happy with the product. Compared to the price of a bimini from towerbiminis.com, it turned out really well.

It is mounted on the tower, comes with all hardware needed. No tools were required in my case. I measured the mounting points, ordered from bigairwaketowers.com, and received it in about 10 days. It's light weight, but seems durable. It doesn't fold up, per se, but the canvas part does detach and roll up into a boot for towing/storage. It's almost 6 feet long, so there is plenty of shade.

My only complaint is, due to the height of my tower and the length of the bimini, it is nearly impossible for short people to attach a rope to the tower. I'm 6'3", and I can barely reach far enough when standing on the sun deck and leaning over. It's pretty awkward. It also makes it slightly more difficult to load/unload boards in the racks. This is a small price to pay for shade, though!

Well, this is frustrating. I can't get the pics to upload. Every time I try to upload from my PC, it says upload failed. Every time I try a link, it says invalid image. I've uploaded this way several times before on this site, without fail. It's pretty standard: .jpg files, relatively small size... Oh well. Maybe I'll get them attached later.

Nice! Great way to get gear up off the floor and run that bimini like the Z5 Cargo without the pricetag.

Does it allow you to stand up straight? How did the price compare to the original ND bimini?

Price was $470 shipped. It doesn't seem sturdy enough to store boards on. I have been putting ropes and handles on it though. It's high enough for most people to walk under. Not if you're over 6' though.

maybe make up a short pig tail so you can connect your rope to the pig tail instead of the tower each time?

Now thats a great idea! The things you learn here........

That is a good idea. I'm wondering how I would avoid looping all 80' of line through the pig tail tie off, though...

looks good, maybe you could get a stainless hook with a safety on it to just pop the ropes into? might hurt if you bumped it though.....then looks would not be the best either......
