Type of grease to use for the rudder?

My steering seems a little stiff, so I looked at the procedure for lubrication on the online 2004 manual. It calls for using white lithium grease into a nipple fitting. I've only ever seen lithium grease in a spray can, and have always used multipurpose grease for my old boat steering cable. Will multipurpose work for my '95 ps190, and do I apply it through a nipple fitting?

Yes any grease will do, the lithium is just better at assisting to keep the water out. If your steering is stiff, check the packing nut on the cable where it attaches to the rudder too. Don't forget to spray a little lubricant under the dash where the gears go side to side off the main steering column.

You can find white lithium grease in tubes at better auto part stores.
