I've saved my pennies. It's not a lot, but I'm looking for the perfect MC that fits my budget. I have a young daughter and wife, so we will be using it for pleasure as well. An open bow would be nice, but not necessary.... I'm in the Midwest, and can travel a little to pick up a boat. Sell me something. I've been looking high and low. Thanks in advance.

Agreed with everyone above. Finding an open bow MC in good condition at peak buying season in that price range is going to be tough. We've had the boat out twice with friends and barely touched the open bow we have (Prostar 195); it was a requirement for my wife, but I think we could have dealt with a 190 for our first boat if we had to. Good luck!

I just can't get a boat with over 1000+ hours. Not to mention the interior. This is by far, the cleanest looking exterior on a 190 I've seen on the market for that price, however.

Don't let the 1000 hours scare you off. As long as it is maintained properly, there is no reason you couldn't go at least another 1000 without major issues. My truck is well over 3000 hours (almost 3400, I think) with about 154,000 on the odometer. The engine uses zero oil between changes and has great compression in all 8 cylinders. It isn't quite an apples to apples comparison, but it isn't apples to coconuts either. Seat skins can be replaced at any time. I don't know anything about this boat, or even this model, but if it looks like a good deal based on what you've been looking at and it's in your budget and you like it, don't be so quick to dismiss it. Look at some engine compression numbers and get some more pictures. You can always save up a couple grand more and re-skin the seats down the road, over the winter, or one at a time on a need-to-do basis. :twocents:

You should save yourself some money and buy a tristar..More importantly this tristar. :)

Not yet! I hope to have one by the weekend if I can find the right deal.
I'm looking for, clean gel coat, no fading, clean vinyl, good trailer, strong engine with under 800 hours. I never thought it would be this hard!

I have this boat if you're interested. Might be a bit older than you're looking for, but she's a good runner. Won't cost you anywhere close to 11k either. Depending where you're located, I could potentially get it even closer to you this weekend as I have to travel to Iowa for my brothers wedding.

Until you start looking one never realizes how picky we are! i got lucky and found something i wanted the first week i was looking, but i think that's rare in the used market.

Most of the boats will have some baggage in the price range you're looking at. If it's in really great shape, chances are the owner's in love and would want top dollar. 11 grand will get you a pretty nice Bayliner. ;) Good luck looking though, there's always something out there

I think he should be able to find something with his criteria for at least CLOSE to that price...

Get on that '96 PS190 if you are serious about buying a boat. You may not find another '96 for that price, interiors can be cleaned up or replaced, the motor hours can be dealt with. Have a used boat inspection performed on it. Should cost under $200 They check basic stuff, note what doesn't work, measure the compression in the engine, etc. It's a "good look under the covers" before you say "I DO".

agreed. my brother's mc has over 2000 hrs on it, and never a major repair. a few starters and a carb rebuild now and then. These things are pretty bullet proof...

So, if no on the '96 then the '93 S&S has got to be the boat. The S&S is what a classic MC is all about, everything else is just another nice MC. Kinda like great grandmas 4dr 69 pea green malibu while uncle Vinny has got the '70 SS396 that everyone is after.

My 84 had 1600+ hours, and still ran strong. We were in that 2 kid range, and needed something a little bigger, so went to the 197. I do understand the fear about hours if you didn't put them on the boat. I had no issues with running my 84, because I new it had no issues, and used absolutely no oil. Good luck though. That 93 S&S is sweet.

Well guys, i just got back from Butler Pennsylvania. I drove from Madison, WI last night at about 8pm I left town, got there at 5am, bought a 1991 tristar open bow with 700 hours on it for $7900. Just got it back home at about 9pm. What a long 24 hours. 1215 miles round trip! Now I'll work on getting it cleaned up a bit and get some pictures! Well under budget, so now I can get some extra goodies.
