on an 1989 PS, anybody had luck with hot wire on head unit - I wired it into the switches, but it seems to pull power off temporarily when I cut on the blower. Other than directly to the battery, any suggestions.

thanks

Your radio needs a uninteruptable power supply to keep all the presets and other stuff in memory. I don't know of anything on the boat that has a current all the time. Most use switches. You could either wire directly to the battery (make sure to use the proper size fuse in the run) or wire to the other side of a switch (also use a fuse to be safe). I would rather run direct because then you could power your radio when the boat is off.

I ran a positive & negative lead up to the dash with like 4 guage wire & then installed a power bus there. So now I have unswitched power under the dash for any accessories like this.
