Anyone use straight talk for their cell phones? I currently have AT&T with 2 smart phones on the acct and its about $180 a month. With straight talk they have an unlimited everything plan for $45 a month each. Does anyone use this? I have an iPhone 5 and the wife has a galaxy s2, does the iPhone have to be jail broken to do this? Next question; is jail breaking an iPhone 5 worth it? What's the differences really? Just free music and apps? Thanks in advance

I've never heard of straight talk but we use AT&T also and recently switched to their mobile share plan. Depending on your data usage you may be able to save $50-$60/month by doing that.

I also jailbroke my iPhone 4 for a while, it gives you more flexibility and access to some apps that apple doesn't allow. It depends on how much you really feel you need to customize your iPhone. After about a month I switched back to a unjailbroken iPhone. Now I have a Galaxy s4

good luck.

Both my kids have straight talk phones (Galaxy S) and we have had great service out of them. After taxes and fees its around $52.00 each for Unlimited talk, text and 3G Data. Straight Talk uses the verizon network so the coverage is great in our area too. I am currently on a plan with Verizon that runs out in Feb '14 and am planning on going to Straigh talk after it runs out. I don't know anything about the jail broken stuff so I will leave that alone.

Well, I'm very interested in something that would shave $100 bucks off of my bill. I think cell phone pricing is the biggest rip off going!

We use T-Mobile's Family plan. 2 phones with unlimited talk, text, and data (the first 2 GB are fast, above that it's slow), and 2 unlimited talk only (one as a house line, one for the father in law) cost us about $140 / month after fees and taxes.

Our biggest issue with Tmobile and ATT is the rather crappy, read have to go outside the house, signal out at our house and my wife's work place.

I've had AT&T since Ive had a cell phone, so I'm use to their coverage. I think straight talk can use AT&T as well as version and tmobil?

I have Boost Mobile, which is similar to the Straight Talk plan. I've been with them for 3 yrs now after switching from Verizon. Obviously, I like it enough to stay. I have unlimited everything for $40/mn. My 4G only works in larger parts of town, but that's OK.

With any new plan, check the coverage area map and make sure you have a trail period to test it out.

Beep beep, where you at?

Ok just kidding. Best deal out there is T-Mobile guys. All the phones, no contracts, 4g no 3g crap unless your not in a 4 g area. I pay for 3 phones all with unlimited data calling web and an upgraded wireless hotspot amount on 2 of the lines. I pay $230. With out the upgrades I would be paying $170 for just unlimited everything.

We have simple mobile, which runs on tmobile's network. $40 a month per line for unlimited talk, text, and data. You don't get subsidized phone prices, but you can find good phones for $200 or so on craigslist or just spend $300 on a nexus 4. We previously had tmobile. With simple mobile, the coverage is the same, we just pay about 30% less than we were paying.

You will also need to keep in mind your priority on the network. With straight talk you are on a lower priority on the network than Verizon post paid subscribers. I have Verizon with share everything 10gigs of data for my iphone, I use about 8.7-9.2 gigs a month. I also tether my laptop to my cell phone for internet while on the go.

You will have to decide if it matters to be on more of a "virtual" network rather than using the physical network. My cell phone is a mission critical device for me, so I don't mind paying the premium for premium service that I need it to work.

With priority on the network goes

1. Verizon Post-paid
2. Verizon Pre-paid
3. Network agreements

Very nice to know, I hadn't thought of that

Sorry I just saw this yeah they work great, I honestly can't tell much of a difference, if any in 3 and 4G with what I use my phone for.
