I am looking for recommendations for places to buy a quality rebuilt 351 Windsor from? I just bought my boat and am already having engine issues might not mind having a back up.

Also might need a good machine shop to rebuild the one that I have. Looking for recommendations for that as well.

Hopefully I can fix this one I have now but I am just covering my bases. Don't want to be stuck at home all hot summer.

Jasper Engines is produces the best remanufactured engines you will find anywhere. Their warranty is great and they have dealers all over the country. They are also probably the most expensive option. http://www.jasperengines.com/marine-products.php

They also have a room at the factory that's filled with their re-manufactured engines, used to produce all of the energy the plant and offices need. They generate more than they need, so they sell some back to the utility. These engines run all day, every day.

^^^ What he said. Jasper is the most popular and offers the best warranty. I just took delivery on a long block from FirstMate Marine,http://www.firstmatemarine.net/ Very good price and no core charge on the 351W.
Its for a boat i'm flipping. Might have gone the Jasper route if it was for my own personel use. Some manufacturers offer upgrades like GT40 heads etc. I ordered from FirstMate on Tues. Motor showed up at my door in 5 business days which included this past holiday weekend. Rebuilding your own motor is nice as you can upgrade/customize it a bit but the reman route is your quickest way to getting wet again.

Agree with Jasper! Put one in my 85 S&S 12 years ago and hasn't missed a beat. Also converted to Electronic ignition at the same time. Best thing for trouble free operation

When I was working for Jasper, they were running all big block engines.....454, 460 and 440's.

Any other options that anybody recommends? I called jasper they want 3k and a core. First mate wants 2300 no core needed but the wait time on the engine from them is 3-4 weeks.

I don't have any experience with these folks, but I've seen them on the forum:

Do you not have an engine at all? If not, go to a boneyard and see what they have that's cheap. It's not as if you have to ship it far- they have warehouses in most major cities.

What is the warranty from First Mate?

The engine I have is fixable so it's worth more than a core charge. I live in Montana not many major cities close by. First mate gives a 12 month warranty parts and labor.
