My buddy was getting ready to winterize his boat when he found out the block is cracked. He thinks it might have happened last year when we had a freak freeze. I believe his MC is the 1998 ProStar SAmmy Duval edition with the 385 HP LT1. Any one know where you can get a block for one of these? I will find out more info from him tonight to make sure that is the actual specs of the motor.

Did he use the boat all season, w/o any problems? Maybe the crack is repairable.

Might look here..

I didn't search it but it has a lot of links. I'm sure a good GM parts dept could hook you up

No way is he runnin 385. It should be something like 340 unless he has done engine mods.

You are correct... that was my mistake. Too many numbers in my head. He said he believes it was 340-350. He wasn't even sure. And I bet the new one is even closer to 330. I have looked online and was hard pressed to find one with more HP than that.

He found the boat sitting in somones yard. He drove past it for two years before he stopped and asked if they would sell it. They said yes... he got it for cheap... and now I guess we know why 8p So with the new power plant he said the boat was still a great deal. HE won't tell me what he paid for it. He's acting like it's not bothering him but it has to sting a little. I mean this guy farts money but who wants to drop that kind of cash.

Oh and it's a '99 not a '98

i just bought a PS205 with a freshly installed LT1. i have the dealership invoices for all the repairs. it shows the cost on the engine as $4850 for the long block. dont know where they got the engine other than he said it came from CA.

Yeah, Not sure where he got his motor but he did specify that it was complete. Nothing to take off the old motor and bolt onto the new one.

Was it a trade in with the old or does he get to keep it ?

He is installing the motor with a mutual friend of ours who specializes in inboards. I would imagine he gets to keep his old one but I'm not certain. He mentioned nothing about sending back a core.
