What are everyone's projects they are planning for their boat?
Here are mine, in no particular order.
1) New Stereo (Pioneer Premier DEH-P860MP)
2) New sub and enclosure - If anyone has some pictures of their sub enclosure, perferrably under the passenger side dash board storage area, I would really like to see them.
3) install an additional bilge pump next to the center drain plug (lowest part of the boat) and also install a 2004 OEM bilge pump switch from a 2004-2005 X30.
4) install the Lenco trim tab - same one Gregg installed on his 2002 X10.
That should keep me busy and broke - all at the same time.

Need a new head unit also, zmd1 needs a new pick up. Anyone with suggestions for a marine unit to replace it?? Have a transom remote, are the newer clarions compatable??
Prostar: Are you sure you want to lose the storage. I put my 10 inch sub in the drivers kick panel. The hole is already in the panel, and the correct size enclosure will fit behind the panel.

don't waste your money on a marine head unit. Just put it in an enclosure & you'll be fine. The non-marine unit in my jeep gets 10x the water my boat unit ever gets. And - it's a bottom-of-the-line Pioneer CD player (I'm not saying Pioneer's are cheep - this is just the cheapest of the entire line).

PS205,
1) I just did #3 on your list (actually just moved it from the rear)--why the 2004 bilge pump switch?
2) Relocate batteries from right rear storage to under observer's seat
3) iPod connector
4) Replace tower rubber foot pads
5) Replace skins

Tom023 -
The 2004-2005 bilge pump switch allows you to turn the forward or aft bilge pumps on individually. I believe it is a four position switch (off, aft, fwd, auto). I guess I could wire both pumps to the existing switch. I may have to run larger AWG wire and change out the circuit breaker.

Carport...... or rather a Boatport. High enough the boat goes in with the tower up!

1. Replace a skin.
2. Have all warranty work done.
3. Clean up the stereo/tower speaker install I did.
4. Install a hot water shower (anyone know the cheapest place???).
5. Install two more LED lights that I just didn't get to.
6. Install a bunch of the thick clear vinyl protective stuff I ordered on high wear points. Its very cool stuff!
7. Find or fabricate a dash pod to go on top of the dash, yet under the windshield to hold my crap. I want a dedicated place for my ipod, cell phone, etc.
7. Finish wiring the tower lights to the switch....didn't get to that either.
Actually, now that I think about it, I am going to go down and do the tower light switch work now.....
Have fun tonight guys...I have a date with my boat...some wire....and a six pack:)

This has been posted before. Angles match very well, and I still have a lot of storage in this compartment. This is a ported box with a 10 in it. "X" was cut on CNC router.

I am having a PIMP enclosure/LED/raised "X" logo done on the drivers kick panel as we speak. Sounds is incredible JL Audio 10W3, waiting on carpet and custom LED strips. Hope to have pics in the next few days.

Buff out the gel coat and replace the packing. That's all this one lacks (or is going to get done) for trading it off for another one (as soon as I find another boat).

eeessshhhh... I have way too many projects and not enough cash flow to support the things I want to do. I'll just pluck away at the little things.
This is my first time owning a MC and this winter is going to be very taxing on my sanity. Thank the good Lord for cie fishing and beer :toast:

It's been a real pain building things in Cincinnati and then taking them down there to install. I wish I could bring the table saw and router down there and spend about two weeks getting this thing done.

Yeah, I suppose that would be a real pain in the arse. Would it be worth it to take a vacation next spring and do exactly that?

We built a garage a few years ago for up north. We pre-fabbed everything down where, took up the walls in early sping and had the whole thing up and whired before July. As for this yeah i want ot pull the engine out of the boat and re-paint it. Add some chrome pullies and stuff like that.

What is the need for an additional bilge pump? Just for my info?
In the X30 for early model years, the only bilge pump is located at the very aft portion of the bilge. This, however is not the lowest point in the bilge by far. So, when water starts to accumulate, it starts to settle in about the middle of the boat, right where the center drain plug is located. At rest, water comes up almost to floor level, with significant portions of the transmission, oil pan, etc. under water before it reaches the level of the bilge pump in the rear. The only way to pump the water out is to have the boat moving, which forces all the water to the rear. By relocating/adding another bilge pump near the drain, the water will only get to a couple of inches before it can be pumped out.

The wife has a honey do list a mile long. (Guess that's the only problem I see with a stay at home mommy, she spends to much time in the house and thinks of things to do to it  )
1. Build retaining wall on side of house for boat to sit there during the summer months (going in storage for winter)
2. Build terraces on the side of the house and plant new trees
3. Install Fence in backyard
4. Finish Basement bathroom
I think some contractors are in order for this stuff! I still have a month worth of skiing to do!! :toast:

1) Install some ventalation fans for the amplifiers (The heat rises and the head unit gets smokin hot and the amps will sometimes go into thermal protection if I don't remove my passenger bow seat).
2) Review Dan's sweet ballast install and duplicate
3) Install some LED's throughout the boat. Gotta have the bling
Opps almost forgot to check the bilge pump. It does not work in auto mode.

That fan is a good idea, I was thinking of doing the same. Are you thinking a 12V computer fan?
I need to remove that POS teakguard stuff I put on. and oil the platform, *and* install a heater. I installed one in my 89 Tristar, and then traded the boat the next year. Nice to have, as it's already hitting the 40's at night, and we still have a few weeks left. Gox Sox!

I would respond favorably to such an email. However, for the sake of the pocket book that email would be much more helpful mid winter ;)

covert back from closed to open cooling! Don't need the weight (all on drivers side) & think the standard cooling will works quicker then the closed system , also don't want to mess around with anti-freeze in the boat anymore!

brent, what are you going to do with the closed loop system (ie heat exchanger)? I'd be interested in it for a fair price! you can e-mail/pm me with specifics if you'd like! mikiee86@yahoo.com thanks

Well, I've got a new-to-me 1998 Maristar 200 VRS. There are a load of projects I'd like to do, let's see what I actually get done.
1. Repair walk-through windshield. On our trip to Lake Powell this year, something slipped and now the walkthrough window won't close.
2. Refinish the teak deck.
3. Polish and wax - it needs it.
4. Engineer a seat-raising base for the driver's seat. The wife can't see over the bow; 3-4" should be enough. Using the throwable to raise her up is kinda hokey. Anybody ever wonder why we don't use something like the aeron chair (http://www.hermanmiller.com/CDA/SSA/Product/0,,a10-c440-p8,00.html) for the captain's chair? I'd think the webbing would be much more comfortable on wet, bare skin than vinyl. Besides, then my butt might be dry when I got back in the truck.
5. Re-attach the carpet that covers the sides of the rear storage compartments. It's hanging loose.
6. Construct a mount for the GPS-III+. The speedo is pretty much useless for foiling, so we use the GPS for speed display.
7. Reattach the sun deck. Some of the screws have pulled loose, and it doesn't raise as well as it should.
8. Design and build a boat computer to:
a. Measure all important engine parameters (RPM, Water temp, oil temp/pressure, transmission oil temp, battery voltage, charging current) and display them in a user-friendly manner. Some I may be able to get from the OBD-II connector, others I may have to instrument.
b. Measure fuel flow, allowing real-time fuel burn/mileage calculation.
c. Measure fuel level, to create a reliable fuel gauge, though this may be of marginal necessity given (b).
d. Measure outside air temperature and water temperature.
e. Measure bilge pump usage.
f. Add an automated warning system for measured items that are outside their expected range - a big red light with a buzzer. This might help catch problems like a shredded impeller, low oil level, failed alternator, forgot to put in the plug, etc., before catastrophic results are otherwise noted.
g. Incorporate a cruise control function much like the PP, with the AccuSki auto-pull up feature. Use the GPS input to help calibrate the cruise in real-time, eliminating inaccuracies due to fuel load, passengers load and seating, etc.
I figure I should have some time to do some of this, what with our short season here (hey, the water's down into the 70's, it's about time to shut it down!).

I'm a big fan of the Ram Mounts (http://www.ram-mount.com/ramgps.htm) .
http://www.ram-mount.com/cataloglarge/RAMB138GA2.jpg
But I'd just stick with Perfect Pass and skip the GPS if you're just using it for speed rather than navigation. Put that paddlewheel in the right location and it will hold a hydrofoil-appropriate speed to within a couple of 10ths of a MPH along with an accurate digital speed display. You should be able to install Wakeboard Pro in your boat for $1000. Comparing my PP speed display to my GPS - it's dead-accurate....no need for GPS. Auto pull-up...? Personally I don't see the need for it for wakeboarding or foiling, and since wakeboard mode is based on actual speed (from the paddlewheel), there's no need to account for boat load or towing weight.

I almost forgot one other item:
Repair the carpet that has bubbled near the drivers seat - unless I can get MC to repair it under warranty. The bubbling is about 8" wide and 24" long. I was thinking of cutting a few small slits in the carpet and spraying in the 3M Carpet Adhesive in. Anyone have some experience in this area??

Check with BriEOD. I'm encouraging him to put closed cooling on his 88 rather than sell it. Maybe he could give your parts a good home. Don't know whether he's interested or not though.

I should've mentioned that with the new manifold, you may need a low-profile flame arrestor as you will run into some space issues under the box (91 and up). Also, you may need to remount the throttle cable to make sure it's level. That dealt me fits for a month when it would bind up at 1,200 rpm coming off plane. After I got it all worked out, it felt like a whole new boat. So much so that I decided I was done messing with the powerplant. It now does all I could want it to do.
1.New head unit
2.Fix sorry trailer guides
3.Figure out how to calibrate my PP(remember-i don't slalom much)
4.sub and amp
5.ski as much as possible!
