View Full Version : 2005 x2 vs 1995 prostar

I am looking into getting a new boat. I currently have a 1995 prostar 205. I was looking into a 2005 x-2. My main concern is the wake for slaloming. I ski at about 32 and i was wondering how the ski wakes compare. We do a lot of skiing, and a lot of Wake boarding. Thanks

there is not a slalom / wakeboard crossover boat that will satisfy the serious skier and the serious wakeboarder. I was a serious skier when the '95 205 came out. Love that wake. Now I have the '02 X-star / 205v and the '05 X2 / 205v wake is pretty great for wakeboarding but at 32MPH, it is a sorry compare to a world class slalom wake. Perhaps the best compromise ever, but someone's not gonna be happy...

my opinion is that youll have a 4 inch higher wake. the x 2 is a great wakeboard boat and a good ski boat. The prostar is a great ski boat and good wakeboard boat. I have a simillar hull to the x2 and i can run the course behind it at 30 with no issues

have you thought about a X9 at all. seems to be the best of both worlds for what you are looking for.

I've skied behind your same hull and skied a '03 X2 and was diasppointed as I thought that could be my next boat. While the wake is relatively low vs other v-drives, the wake is dense and meaty with a little trough coming into it that tends to kick you up. Maybe shortening the rope would have helped. Plus, my PS190 has spoiled me with some edge habits that could have been better. If you're 50/50 ski & board, you'll likely be satisfied. Plus, you can fill some of the skiing disapointment with surfing.

Hey! Shh... I have a secret campaign to fuel rumors that the X9 is is terrible. Could drop prices right?

I heard for years that the X9 ski wake was about the same as a X2/205v. Skied the two back to back. The X9 was SO much softer, nearlly no trough into the wake, and allowed easier/faster crossings.

We are not hard core competition skier, just recreational. we rarely ski the course, but like to do some cuts. The 05 x-2 had 300 hours and he was selling it for about 25,000. is that a good deal?

That's a decent price. Not a screaming deal but, id gladly pay that price (today, right now) if it was on a tandem axle, had spinning board racks, perfect pass and was my favorite colors.

Got any pictures of the X2 that you are not gonna buy?

$25k is really cheap for an 05 x-2. Most are $5k-$10k more than that. Obviously the condition would be key, but that is the cheapest I have seen
