I am shopping MC models for my family. Budget at or just over 50k for used boat.

Our needs:

1. Decent size - We have 2 youngens and their buddies who will be around.
(Also wife wants boat that sits up a bit higher in water. We will use it on large bodies of water and will get caught out in rough water.) the deep V would help?

2. We are about the wake surfing. I am thinking V drive and ability to ballest correctly for surfing. We will also tube and bring up kids learning ski/ wakeboard etc. Surf is primary need for now.

3. It will be kept in a rack and launch near our home for 90% of use so it will only be trailered 1-2 times per season for trip to lakes up north.

I have been thinking along the lines of X15, X25 or X35. Am I on the right track? What are your thoughts on boat choice?

Don't think you can find an x-25 in the 50's. An older x-45 would be good or the x-15.

while i am not an expert. for that budget i'd be looking at an x30 or x45. the x45 probably has the best interior size and utilization of space of any mc on the market. both will surf and board well.

The x-25 or x-35 will meet your needs (both have a deep v and will handle the rough water well); the 25 has a great surf wake and a very good wakeboard wake, and the x-35's wake is also decent , but I don't think you'll find either one for the price you're looking at. We just bought an x-35 and we love it, but it is a very big boat. One feature my wife insisted on is the convertible passenger seat -- the x-35 has that, but the x-25 doesn't. Onlyinboads.com has a couple of x-35s that are close to your budget; one for $54K and one for $64K. The cheaper one only has the 350HP MCX engine, however, and I think that engine is underpowered for the x-35. Good luck

I have talked with the one that has the MCX. The other has LY6 400. HP. Would it be a noticeable difference?

The LY6 does have more power, but I have read some comments about sluggish performance out of the hole.
