My engine has locked up. 900 hours, and I was looking for a way out. Any ideas where I might get another engine? Complete or would it be better to find a long or short block and rebuild? I am fairly competent, but not a mechanic. May have access to a 1986 inboard Chevy and wasn't sure it would mount up right.

Lots of options here. You may want to consider a late 90's vortec 350 as these had great, hiflow heads, roller cam, etc. You will need to pick up a new intake manifold as the vortech heads use a different bolt pattern than the std smallblock head. Everything else should swap out. Came in tons of trucks in the mid 90's so pretty plentiful. You could always go with Jasper or one of the reputable engine builders.

I can get a 350 chevy that has 20 hrs on it for around 1500. Don't really know history. didn't know if an 86 would mount up properly.
I guess I am looking for the cheapest way out for a few more years. Boat is pretty old and faded. Just need it to pull kids and me skiing.

Does your 91 prostar already have a chevy engine in there? If it doesn't and it has a ford you are going to have a difficult time lining everything up. If you have a ford and are looking for a complete long block summitracing has a good one for $1,900. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fmm-fo351la/overview/make/ford just sayin'
