View Full Version : transmission fluid, what to use

My owners manual noted that Dexron II is the proper transmission fluid to use in my 1998 Prostar 190. To my suprise the guy at the auto parts store informed me that Dexron II hasn't been made for "at least 10 years", and that Dexron III is the same with a different additive. Needless to say, Dexron II was nowhere to be found. Is it OK to use Dexron III? My dealer hasn't returned my phone call yet to answer this question, anyone have suggestions?

Thanks. I figured Dexron III was OK, but I wanted to see what everybody else was using.
