I have a 1984 S and S project boat for sale. Comes with a trailer from a different boat. The trailer needs work. The boats hull is good shape. Somebody painted white over entire boat, the paint apparently comes off fairly easily. It's maroon and grey gel coat. The previous owner cut the floors to removed saturated foam, new foam has been poured but the floor has not been glassed over yet. Motor turns by hand, but it's running condition is unknown, it definitely needs to be worked over. Carb is there but needs to be rebuilt. Transmission is a power slot. Looks to be in decent shape and will likely work fine with an overhaul. The windshield is in great shape Most of the boat is here and I can see this thing rebuilt. I'd love to do it myself but don't have time or money for a second project. $1000 or best offer. I'd love to see this thing go to a good home. Photos to come. Boat is located in Tallahassee, Fl.

I wish I had the time and space to fix it. Makes me sick to my stomach to see that...

Good candidate for a "resto mod" like an old hot rod.

Missing all the interior, dash pod and gauges, platform and brackets, exhaust manifolds, etc. Might be hard to source a lot of those factory parts, but they could be fabricated or aftermarket(ed) fairly easily.

Hopefully somebody puts the time into it, could be really cool.

There are two pedestal bucket seats that are in good shape that come with it.

Looks like an 83' 1/2. It has the fake wood dash and appears to have fiberglass stringers.

The stringers are fiberglass

That's what I think, looking at the steel that sits on top of the stringer. The dash (what's left) looks pretty much the same as a 82 to 83.

I'd love to have it, but its in the wrong place - cost me way more to get it here than to buy it.

Where are you located? I am willing to work with the price a bit, especially if it means that boat will get new life someday.

If the stripe is metalflake it's an '83, if it's a solid color it's an '84. Also, the steel motor mount angle iron was painted in '83 and galvanized in '84.

I've seen boats sold, and I've seen them parted out. I've never seen someone part it out and then try to sell it. This is a new one to me. I can't imagine paying for this as you could never complete it without being absolutely destroyed by the cost to custom make parts. I will would love to see someone be able to save it.

This would be a great project for someone with large amounts of money and time. I could easily see buying some of the existing pieces.

Im not necessarily against the idea of parting it out, but I dont wanna get stuck with a fiberglass shell.

If this boat were in MN or WI it would be sold already.

I realize that it is something people are intersted in, like I said, Id love to see it saved, worse case senario it gets chopped and taken to junk yard.

How much and what kind of work does the trailer need, tires, bearings, lights etc...

The biggest part is actually welding. The crossmembers towards the back are gone. It's def not in great shape. It will get you from here to there, but it def needs work. The trailer isn't truly what is worth buying in this case, the boat is. Willing to trade too.

There to here happens to be about 13 hours of interstate for me. Does it pull straight? Do the bearings make any noise when traveling at highway speed? Are the tires weather checked and do they hold air? Do any of the lights work? Can you post a pic of the broken parts?

Is the hull painted over? or has the metal flake been sanded off? Powerslot tranny?

Man, I must disagree. I hate to see a boat go down, but the cost to bring this back would put you hugely upside down on price, even if you got the boat for free. I own a woodie, and there's an old saying from Chris Smith from Chris Craft that goes, "you can get a wood boat for free, and still pay too much."

I think I would rent a car hauler from U-haul and put the boat and trailer on that before I would trust what sounds like a very sketchy trailer to make it that far.

This might not be a concours restoration project, and not a boat one would buy in hopes of flipping it for a profit, but this would be an inexpensive entry for someone to get into a MC assuming they are capable of doing the work themselves. In the immortal words of Dirty harry "A man's got to know his limitations".

Lets say you have a 81 or 82 S&S and the stringers are all bad. Looks to me like you could buy this and transfer all the good stuff from your hill to this hull and save a ton of money and time compared to repairing your rotted hull. Just a thought.

OMG! Its a RED metalflake boat! If that baby were in Mn or Wisconsin, it would be in my garage!
Looks like a 1:1 tho..., LOTS of nice parts there. What happened to the exhaust manifolds?

If it's an '84 it's probably not Metalflake..Unless it was a special order.

It's got a power slot tranny, has a reduction unit, so it's not a 1:1. Manifolds are gone. If no one takes it, I'll either part it or rebuild it in time.

Actually I dont see dedicated ski boats very often here. Its mostly I/O or CC fishing boats. The suwannee river has a bunch of ski boats, or Jacksonville area and Orlando. But not so up here in north florida. If I find a place to store it, I will pull the motor and rebuild it, in all likelyhood.

It's always about the market. Good luck with however it works out.
