I only own one gun, a Remington 870 that I only using for target shooting a handful of times per year. All of the tactical shotguns look super cool, always wanted one; I'm looking for an opinion from somewhere other than the reviews posted by Cabela's employees on their webpage.
However I feel if I'm going to get a gun that has little to no purpose except for slaying zombies, and looking cool, I should get an old side by side coach gun. Opinions from owners?

After typing this, I feel purchasing one of those guns would be like taking $400 and lighting it on fire.

You won't find a more reliable and functional shotgun than a Remington 870.

The old coach guns are cool and am still kicking myself for passing on a genuine Wells Fargo gun I found at an estate auction many years ago. You really have to ask yourself the purpose of the gun. If in the back of your mind it is a self-defense weapon, an old gun isn't a good choice. If it is just a fun gun, whatever appeals to you is the answer. The tactical guns are cool. I haven't justified having one as I have an 870 and a 9mm handy.

Each person has their own ideas for personal defense and how they should prepare. The 870 Tactical is a great weapon for the money. Next would be the 887 Tactical then the 870 LE version. Best would be the Benelli Tactical. All based on what we install in Law Enforcement Vehicles.

Benelli tactical shotguns are the best ... shoot great and clean up easy

I second the Benelli. Bought one a couple of months ago for home protection and love it. You can rip the shotgun apart in seconds to clean.

Thank you for the input fellas! Very doubtful that I would use this gun for personal defense, it would be a fun gun for shooting whatever my brothers and I feel like. Our latest target is filling up water or soda bottles, then launching them with the water balloon slingshot, and blasting them with a 12 gauge! I will take a video after this memorial day!

If you are just looking for having fun and blowing things up, there is always a street sweeper.

KSG, that is about the only "tactical" shotgun I would consider. But, I don't have the asking price for one right now.

Here is a nice shotgun for safety or pleasure, the AA-12 courtesy of the Military Police Systems. It is a fully automatic shotgun, very minimal recoil. We were at Jerry Baber's factory taking it for a trial run. Sorry about the quality of the video it was taken with a cell phone. I was the first shooter in the video.

Yes sir, the guy that owns the factory lives close to me so I had the opportunity to fire off several hundred rounds. The recoil is non existent, it is amazing. He also had some mounted on remote control helicopters, and land rovers and they were the "cookies!"

Sounds like one hell of a time.

How would you like to have these babies in your gun vault?

This was another one of his toys, talk about home security. They have a camera installed and it can climb steps also. :D

The AA-12 were going for $18,000.00 a piece, talk about insane. That vault had about $90,000.00 worth of shotguns in there. They've probably gone up as everything else has.

lost all mine in a tragic boating accident...

if I DID still have my 870 though I would probably change out all the furniture with MagPul stuff and add an extender to the tube...if I still had one
