Dangit.....

Might have to drive through Madison on the way to Milwaukee next weekend.

Engine?
Hours?

Curious to see both biminis deployed as well.

RTP with about 330 hrs and boat has 590.

I will see if I can find some pictures with both up. Rear bimini is small but it extends downward to block the sun off your back.

Block freeze?

Also curious about price of course. If not here, pm please.

I can't imagine a 197 with an RTP, I can't imagine a boat with 590 hours being on a second engine, and I can't imagine posting a boat for sale without posting the price or a picture. Granted this ad has pics. Just my thoughts at the moment.

Prior to the RTP it had my interest. (I'm not truly ready to get back into a 197, but eventually)

What does RTP mean? Boat looks good but it seems there are many questions to answered on its history.

Does the RTP really do that badly in the 197 hull? I just like how every boat posted for sale seems to be extra clean. I tell ya what... I wont know what to do if I look at a boat that is only "clean" and not "extra clean."

I too would be curious what happened to RTP #1.... Which if my math is correct would have only had roughly 260 hours.

No the rtp isn't bad. Can't see why everyone hates on it. I have it and it does just fine. Even long line footing. If its not enough to pull you footing, consider a diet.

I like it, it's dependable and has great power.

My rtp pulls two footers long line at a solid 41 on the gps. Did a bf race with a 190 with the 285 HO and they run exactly the same speed/accel...i was actually surprised.

RTP is fine. MCX is better. I want to get up and ready ASAP through the course. An extra few seconds don't matter unless it's through a course, especially one with a short setup. I personally wouldn't buy a 197 without Powerslot and MCX. I don't foot so no comment there. But if I were a footer I would hold out for a 6.0. Wouldn't even go MCX

Here we go again on the MCX / RTP comparisons. Dyno sheets don't lie and if the execrations made by Indmar and other engine manufactures are true (as stated in another recent post) then your extra 10 - 15HP you get from the MCX (all at high RPM BTW) are not going to make any real noticeable difference in hole shot or what a boat can pull. Take this with the fact that we're talking about a 197 that weighs nothing compared to a x25 or a x30 and I'd have a hard time believing that the RTP wouldn't do well in this set up.

Would I rather have the MCX in two identical boats for sale at the same or very close price..... sure. Would it stop me from buying a boat of this size with an RTP..... no. I wonder how many people could actually pick the MCX out in a Pepsi challenge between boats. There are so many factors that go into overall performance when setting up a boat. With that little difference in HP a good prop versus a not so good prop could make up the difference in performance.

"But if I were a footer I would hold out for a 6.0. Wouldn't even go MCX"

Now we're on the same page and that's something I can agree with. Two completely different animals there.

RTP is a big deterrent for me for slalom. Not so much if it is inan x1 or x2 for boarding. The torque and HP curves have been posted here before

RTP-1 is a throttle body injected Indmar GM 350ci/5.7L small block V8 with advertised @ 310 HP it's the engine on right, The MCX 5.7L is advertised @ 350 HP and is in the middle the, LY-6 6.0L is advertised @ 400 HP is on left...

Sorry but I disagree, I have footed behind a 209 with the 310 and no problem at all. Yes the bigger motor would be nice but not a deal breaker for me. jmho.

My 205 only has the 275 and it is every bit of a barefoot boat that my Barefoot 200 was (well almost)

Ar for the 197 for sale, that is my favorite color design for this boat, if it were a 209 I would be very interested.

I took the 14x20 prop off and put a 13.7x17.5 on it yesterday. Made a good difference in the holeshot. Speed dropped from 46.2 to around 45.4. Not much difference on the top end but much smoother in the low and middle. It felt like it had more power out of the water.

I'm not trying to start the RTP vs. MCX battle again, just my comment is, everything has been done behind my boat and i've never had complaints... I do have the powerslot though.

I don't think its fair to say to anyone looking that the RTP is incapable of anything or not prefered. I think thats a false statement. I want the ly6, not for any other reason than saying I have a 400 horse caddy. Thats my only reason.

I think I would take an RTP with a slot over an MCX with a 1:1. I have too much good experience with the bulletproof Vortec TBI precursor to the RTP to count it out.

The problem is that the 197 had such an increase in wetted surface (post hook) than the previous hull, that it needed more power to push it around in the same manner to which many of us had become accustomed. But given the "stated hp" notes in the other thread, I'm not sure how much you're giving up between the two engines. Plus, right around the 2005 time frame, the MCX got the ETX CATS, but the RTP did not get them until the next year. That would play into my buying decision (I don't care that Indmar "said" that there was no reduction in hp with the cats).

With the 1.52:1 gear reduction of that era, I'm not convinced there would be too noticeable a difference for slalom between those two engines.

Doug do you (or anyone here) remember what year the 'slot went from 1.52 to 1.26?

What happened to it around this time last year? I was seriously on the fence, and worried these guys to death and then decided to pull the trigger and it had a deposit on it. Its a nice boat, hope the newer owners enjoy it!

It sold to the previous owner last year at this time and he upgraded to a 2012 WTT.
