:o Hello guys,
I am new in your group discussion and would like to introduce myself. My cottage & boat are on a lake in the Laurentiens, north of Montreal Quebec and just got a new X-7 with a MCX and many options. My fun is slalom ski (intermediate level) and like you, some boating, tubing for the kids etc. I've been reading your topics with interest and would like to join your discussions in the future if you don't mind.
I've attached some pictures of my new boat. Like many of you, I was not too excited with the 2006 logo but neither with the old school 2005.

That is one sweet boat! I like the graphics, I only wish that they had the rear band on the X7's.
You will love it...I have an 04 X7 and couldn't be happier about it.
Welcome!

Beautiful boat. I like the colors and the graphics. I see you got the lights as well. Will you be riding at night?
Very good looking boat. Calendar quality picture with that glass in the background.

Thanks for the graphics. Honnestly I did'nt really like them at the beginning but didn't want either to look like a 2005 model. I might add some silver inside the black X-7 graphic or order a Mastercraft by Design nice (but expensive) graphic one day. About boating at night, very occasionnally but not skiing, but the lights look nice and help also when docking, fixing, covering the boat at dusk.

That 06 looks pretty good. I will agree that you definetly have to let the graphics grow on you.
Boat looks sharp :D

I don't know of any up here for sale but I know InXtremis in Longueuil has a 2004 PS197TT and a 2002 X9 for sale.

Yep,i know of those 2 and my friend lives in Longueuil (My hometown too!) and talked to Michel about them but taxes really makes that price go up fast.
As you must know,no taxes when you buy from a private owner, big break on such a boat!
No skiing tonight ,too windy...

I have a buddy up North that have been looking for one all summer long. He finaly got a bu closed bow 3 weeks ago.
Treadjacking here.... André, do you ski around Montreal during the week or do you go out of Town. I would love to be able to ski during the week. I go up North on Wednesday nights in July and August just for a ride in the course.

Would your recommend the X7 for heavy duty slalom course skiing? Like 28 to 32 off?
SKI*MC
09-20-2005, 10:22 PM
well the X-7 is the same thig as the PS 197, just the tower and decals to separate the two.. I would thik it would be close.

Could be wrong, but like Ski*MC said, they are the exact same aside from that the X-7 comes with the full size tower, and the 197 you can put the full size or mini tower (or no tower) on ... I'll bet the weight of my mini tower would drive some hard core skiers nutz but they would probably be the exception to the rule.
SKI*MC
09-20-2005, 10:43 PM
I dont think a mini tower would weight that much more. Would it?
pflcjl
09-20-2005, 10:45 PM
what about the ballast system? how mauch weight would taht add even when empty?
SKI*MC
09-20-2005, 10:47 PM
Well when empyu nothing in the x-7, you just use sacs not hard tanks like in the X-STAR, but i think when its filled, it weighs something like.... maybe 400-500 pounds.
PendO
09-20-2005, 11:25 PM

Yeah, the ballast system when empty would be nil the pumps don't weigh much more than a wet lifejacket, if that.

I agree with all that is said, but be sure that if you get PP you don't end up with the wakeboard edition.....
Workin' 4 Toys

I think the empty ballast bag weighs about 8 pounds. And the pump the same.
SKI*MC
09-21-2005, 10:53 PM
nothign enough to efect the size of the wake (when its empty)
RobertT
09-21-2005, 10:59 PM
Just guesses here:
Ballast bag if you want to keep it in the boat...10lb
Pump and fittings...6 lb
Tower...65lbs
About like having a 10 year old hanging in the boat.
Hey, you have a X7. Think of it as a 197 with balls.
Hee heee

I orderd PP digital pro ... but where it used to be 2 different systems I think the sofware for both wakeboard and pro are now both present in the same unit, you just have to choose on setup which sofware you want to run ... will let you know for sure when I reset as mine looks to be setup for wakeboard when you turn the key on, but when reading the PP manual I see how to reset ... ahhh, who knows, I probably just need to switch modes but until I get 10 hours I'm not gonna F with it.

I'd guess 30 lbs and the hoses shouldn't be that much more.
We ski at 15 off and think the wake is similar to our old 98 PS 190.
If your friends get disperate, fly into Louisiana and get a boat from Bennett's. You'll save enough to pay for the tickets, rent a truck (one way) and drive it home over a long weekend.

Thanks all for your compliments about my boat.
Sorry André, I don't know any open bow MC boat to sell on my lake, yet.
About the slalom wake, it's phenomenal, one of the best.I use to have a J-craft with an outboard 200HP (almost no wake) and the X-7 (and PS 197) is the closet one I found (maybe the Malibu Response LI also). I don't ski the course shorter line than 22 off (I'm getting old...) but my neighbour and nephew do and they loved the X-7 wake. It's a soft wake on both edges with a mild rooster in the center. About the tower and ballast system, I don't think it makes a big difference but I'll try it soon without the tower and gadgets. But I think the wake is a tiny bigger with the MCX 350HP & its 13' prop compared to the standard RTP1 & 12' prop. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to put a 12' prop on the MCX and what the pros and cons?
