The print should not effect price

Before I give a number I need to know interest. Not to gouge anyone but CNC runs per hour and I can spread savings the more that can be built.

Also each individual one can be a different color or pattern.

I'll look into mass reproduction if there is an interest. I may also need the current cup holder for a for sure fit.

Enjoy boys

I built 2 to see how this takes off.

The process has a lot of stages. The more guys interested then the lower the price per unit bc I can make more than 1 at a time per hour on machine.

If you are interested put interested on the thread.

I will be going back next Friday to pick up rats. It normally takes a few weeks.

I will have a number of units possibly wanted and talk to the CNC company.

I will 100% have installed pics maņana

That is black carbon fiber. That is mine that is in all pics in post 1

I can ghost the carbon if you want.

Base it black dip in carbon base black over carbon and then clear. It will pop and the carbon will be deep and hidden like ghost flames on a custom chopper..... :D

I have been trying to think on how to make the curves in one for a year. I can't figure out how to bend it. I've actually thought about fiberglassing one.

Is your dash piece damaged or broken?

Are you handy?

I thought about pulling my dash piece out. Glassing the back. Pulling the vinyl off front. Bondo filling the front and sanding it smooth.

Dip after making bondo work perfect.

I just ask because that would be very custom for me to do and it would all be hand made. Lots of hours involved.

I made mine out of wood. Everything was hand made on mine. My plastic piece was in very very bad shape. Like to the point that I had to use rats to draw out a template and go off of his factory plastic piece.

If someone wanted the factory piece dipped then that would be an option too. Vinyl would need to ripped off and the plastic would need to be prepped and made 100% smooth for the process to begin.

Well water. I pay to have it done. I do not do it myself.

Product gets sanded to a perfect finish.

Then primed with automotive grade primer.

Sanded again

Primed again

Base coat any color mine is black.

Dipped in water with a film floating on water that has an activator sprayed on it.

Then product is put into a rinsing machine.

Product gets several layers of high quality clear coat.

Product goes to buffing dept.

It is not zip zip fast or cheap.

Guys do NOT expect a $10 paint job. This is not cheap.

Hydro dipping ?

Kyle
03-10-2013, 09:12 PM
Hydro dipping ?

Yes. It's not super expensive like hundreds of dollars but when we talk about me building each unit by hand or CNC maching and I'm footing the bill per unit and shipping and driving 45 min each way to dipper these cup holders are not going to be free.

It takes 10-15 hours to build one and a ton of sanding. A CNC product will cost money to run a product.

I'm not doing this to make a ton of money but my time has some kind of value to it. If I'm paying for shipping and carting these things around town then I need to make sure my costs are covered.

If folks want one without cups or lights then price can be adjusted accordingly.

I only think that is fair and if I were purchasing one then I would expect someone's work and efforts to be compensated.

Please don't be mad. I have not named a price. I haven't got to talk bulk buy yet.

All I can say is its real close to $350 to make what I have. 15 build hours and driving all over town 4 hours for each unit is worth $100. If I have 20 hours and gas per unit then $100 extra for me (averages $5 per hour) is pretty good labor rate.

This is exactly why I want to get CNC cost and possibly multiple unit buy on dipping.

I can also say dropping cups and lights would take off around $100 or so. I need to look at receipts and what I paid for shipping, tax, cost, etc.

Guys understand that when I get into a project I never watch cost until I'm done building it how I want it. That's why I have a $700 margarita machine and pushing $1000 skylon speaker system. I start building and don't care about price. I have kept my sales tickets though on this build because I figured some would want one.

Rockman I'll still include your unit in group buy for CNC and dipper.

Lets see if we can get a lower price. Everyone sit tight and not freak out please. This is custom and my OCD has gone extreme on making it perfect and the hours have added up fast.

I will have a CNC price this week.

If it is outrageous then I will figure a cost for hand built by me.

I will post units with and without lights and cups.

Sit tight and don't get hung up on the sticker shock yet.

Kyle, not mad at all...do keep me in the loop once you get some prices.

I am in accounting for a total of 20+ years and have been in the transportation industry for the past 11 years...funny that I am the only one of many of my friends who understands all the components and costs of an item...everybody says "Holy SH!T that is expensive!" But when I look at something and see the raw material costs, the labor and transportation charges, the price of an item is not shocking at all.

I still have to get a few bigger items for the PS190 that we bought last fall that are gonna be a big hit...new prop, stereo, cover and bimini...so my wish list has changed to more of a priority list at this point.

Keep me in the loop though...;)

I was even thinking yesterday that putting in a screen in the vent so you can do a movie night or play music videos while partying would be cool. The whole sun thing would probably mess the screen up.

So now

I'm thinking remove the mirror. Make a carbon exact cutout of mirror. Put a touch screen in the mirror spot and a reverse camera hidden on the back of the boat. This way you still can watch what is behind you, play your music, have a movie screen, and it can fold down in the factory mirror case in weather or direct sun. Everything would be flush mount and fit inside the factory mirror housing.

$$$$$$$ is prolly too high though

Ok boys I have pricing.

$300 will be the cup holder and vent only. No cups or lights. It will be hand made and dipped with whatever pattern or color that you choose. You will need to ship me your factory piece and cups so that I can verify fit and angle. Some year models the angle changes. I will be hand making it and carting it 45 min each away to drop off at the dipper and driving back to the dipper to pick it back up. You will pay shipping cost.

$420 will be for a fully loaded rig. LED lights and cups. The cups cost $25 my cost each and the LED's are $25 for a 2' section silicon covered marine LED waterproof lights. Add tax and sipping to me and you can see that I'm not making a penny on the lights. I will need the factory piece and you will pay shipping same as an unloaded version. I will also include wiring connectors and pre wire it.

I will ship you the factory piece back when I ship the new bada$$ cup holder. Again I'm not covering shipping. Turn around time will be probably a few weeks. The dipper had mine 2 weeks and rats is on his second week. To be safe give me a week to build and get to dipper. 3weeks should be a very reasonable turn around time.

All I need is who is interested and are serious.

Kyle do you think a cup holder could be set in a older 190 like a 87? Your cover looks to be at base size bigger than the older ones. Question might be space for clearance at the rear of the cover. Fiberglass molding of the area is not an isse but unsure of require space to put it in there.????

Phntmski

I look forward to getting your dash and engine box holder for your 91. I know that It will turn out very nice.

I would like to take pics during your build and I hope you took a before pic of the old school dash. This will really bring out the helm of the boat.

Be thinking of a color that you want. Your boat is teal and grey, and upholstery is white, teal, and grey. Black carbon is what I have but you can change the base color to say silver, dark grey, white, or teal and have the same effect.

Update

I just left TXMC and looked at a lot of used and customers boats in the shop. It looks like '93 and up to 2000 ish use the same exact cup holder. I also noticed that '95 and up has flat dash bezels and if you guys remove the gauges and switches then I can dip them the same color and pattern. The '94 down to '92 have a weird dash and I'll have to think about how to dip those. '91 and earlier have flat dash bezels and can be dipped. I'm now going to get a '91 cup holder and recreate it as it is a different shape.

I still would really like the original cup holder but from my research today they appear to be the same.

TXMC wants to see Rat's as soon as I pick it up. They really liked the product and I talked to them about the prices I posted and they think they are worth more.

Let me know who is interested and how much dipping you want done. Dash and cup holder would look killer.

$300 without lights and cups

$420 with LED's and LED cups pre wired.

Dash pieces will be extra and I don't have cost. That probably will be per boat cost and I can let you know before dipping. I'll get a general idea after I do phntmski dash.

I have the larger motor box cover on my 91' 240sc.
My concern is if the two piece wood design is tough enough when people step on it.

I know its not "supposed" to happen but it does and too frequently when the party gets going so I might as well plan for it.

Would I be better either fiberglassing my broken original or using this as a base and glassing over it?

I dont think you would tear up a 3/4" solid oak piece that has been sealed and epoxied with 3,000# epoxy glue and screwed together with 2" stainless screws. I didn't build a flimsey piece of crap. This cup holder will hold a person stepping up onto the engine cover no problem. Actually I can see the engine box cracking or breaking before the piece I built. Now I probably would not recommend the 500# person on the engine cover anyway but I'm sure my piece would not break in half. .

People frown at $300 and a custom build. They think its so cool but don't want to pay. Now if I did billet price would be even higher. It would also get hot and then when someone uses it as a step for the engine box, they will burn their foot.

It's loose loose for me lol.

So far it's Rat cup only, phntmski cup and dash, Double D cup, me cup only and that's it.

I guess not everyone can be rockstars or roll gangsta lol.

Wraps will tear when stepping on them all the time. Price isn't much cheaper. Plus I had my fiberglass fixed, patched and sanded out.

Your cup holder can be removed and dipped. TravisX9 in my friends has his cup holder (your style) dipped in carbon. Looks bada$$. Think about it.

Yeah I saw those pictures, real nice! Was that a solid wood piece or is it plastic that was dipped? My cup holder is a piece of plastic on top of wood, not sure it is the original. If I was to to do this I would make a new holder out of wood then send for hydrographics.

i just jumped in and read this post - really nice work! I had my dash redone by Tecnografic in Florida (see my thread) and after reading through this, I gotta' figure it's all dipped too. I always wondered what they did, and I can say the burl wood came out amazing. So I have no doubt this is quality work all around, and I would've been interested for sure (price is actually good for all the work involved, bud, and I know what I paid Tecnografic for the dash panels on my 96 Prostar 190, it ain't cheap but worth it). I actually have been spending spare winter time doing my cupholder over (pulling the vinyl, repairing the plastic, painting, made a replacement panel out of aluminum and had it done to match the dash, added an Alpine remote right in the center), so had I known all this, I could've saved me some time and it would've been worth it to ship mine and wait!
Nice work.

Guys understand that when I get into a project I never watch cost until I'm done building it how I want it. That's why I have a $700 margarita machine and pushing $1000 skylon speaker system. Since my nights are busy with my Son's baseball games I was not able to install it or even hook up the LED's, but I did try to capture the moment. :D:D (Please note; my engine cover is off now because of the exhaust work I am doing)

Kyle, thanks so much for putting so much quality effort into creating these and making this happen for me and everyone else involved. Thank you again for getting the two additional cup holders for the front, and the PVC pipe I need for my exhaust tips.

I also got my new license lettering, in MC font, from mikeg205 so thanks to Mike for that!

......

Your're welcome and the pics are priceless... Kyle truly is an MCOCD enabler... ;)

Kyle,

I don't know much about this hydro dip. But what materials can be dipped with those patterns.

I hate my dash gauge bezel. Is it possible?

Yes that is possible. You can dip pretty much anything. Water bottles, clip boards, guns, video game controllers, metal, wood, plastic, etc.

Take a pic of what you want dipped.

Sorry for the delay. I want the dash panels done but I noticed the smaller side panels where the switches and key are have cracks where the screws hold it in. So I would need to replace them.

Hello my name is Kyle and I have MCOCD. I designed the Custom Cup Holder and we now have memberships available. :D

Anyone interested in joining please let me know. Membership dues are a one time purchase of a pimped out Mastercraft remanufactured product. Once your dues are paid and you post up a few pics of your item or items installed then you are in for life.

Thanks for the referrals David

Kyle, that cup holder set up is absolutely beautiful. Nice job. Not sure you are still making these but I would like to have one. The carbon fiber theme is what I have going on. Can you give me a call or email me? I would like to discuss it. Dominic @ 630 703 6000,,,sickracing@comcast.net

I will contact you Friday or Saturday.

I'm getting more and more people wanting them and I have a regular 40plus hour a week job. I'm have talked to a company and we are negotiating price for them to make them for me. I'll know more in a few days. I can not keep up with demand currently and do not have any pre built.

I'm still working on the CNC process for the cup holders. I know 5-6 of you want one. I will pm, call, text, etc every one of you guys in a week or two.

I know that a few have waited a month or so, but once I get the CNC set up to make a usable product then I can crank these babies out real quick. Sit tight with me another week please.

Thanks

By the way. I will have switch panels, dash kits, cup holders :)
