Well I've got an offer in on an 01 x star for 20500

It has 420 hours has a little dock rash and has some vinyl tears. Has a massive stereo system 8 tower speakers on top of the stock sound system. They said for 1500 they would wet sand polish and wax the boat and fix all the vinyl in the boat

So basically 22000 for the boat. Converted to US tats roughly 20, 500
Plus this boat is 5 minutes from my house

Sounds like good deal to me. What tower is on it? Make sure you get all the repairs you're asking for in writing... and show us some pictures already!

The 2001 factory tower. Ya definitely will get it I. Writing because I thought. The quote for the repairs was reasonable I know vinyl work is realy expensive.

Sounds pretty cheap for wet sanding AND vinyl work. You might want to save that 1500 rather than be disappointed by shoddy work or cheap material.

Ya I thought it was pretty cheap to. This is through my local Mc dealer

I'd say 22,000 is a pretty good price for an older v-drive in Canada, especially in good condition. Its not uncommon to see similar year (or older) direct drives listed for over 20k in my area.

Good on ya.
And also post some pics on the 205V hull thread (inc. original X2 and XStar models.)

Congratulations, nice looking boat, but could use another pair of speakers on the tower. Is this the same one you were originally talking about? If it is, what's with the AZ registration numbers on a Canadian boat?

chevyluv
03-10-2013, 02:40 PM
thanks ya its pretty nice i never thought my first bought would be this nice. wanted an x star when i first saw them when i was 14. haha ya just a few tower speakers that for sure.

the boat has a couple issues one of the rear ballasts wouldnt fill and the stereo wouldnt power up. but tournament boats in abbotsford told me they would get this all up and working for me and take me and my wife out for another water test so we can see everything is working great. they said they were unsure if the owner had transferred the registration or not but they would handle all of that.

i have to say they have been great to deal with these guys and in the future i wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again. i felt like i got the same service as if i was buying an 80`000$ boat, in my opinion that`s how it should be

Very nice looking boat. I hope all works out with the remaining issues but it sounds like your MC dealer will take care of things for you.

Let us know how things go when the ice turns back into liquid.

THAT'S a great feeling! We got our first boat just last September, se we're still "new" owners (patiently waiting for some warm weather to clock some lake time). CONGRATS!

thanks, ya its pretty crazy i would have never put that many on but i mean if it has it why not. it had a blown fuse when we took it out to water test it so i didn't actually get to hear it

Nice looking boat - congrats. Is it a US or Cdn boat?

thanks, its originally from Arizona its been up here for 4 years i was told but the owner has never switched it over the dealer said they would handle all the stuff with figuring out the registration.

I agree - that's MC in it's prime - good "solid state" boat that requires relatively little maintenance. Where are the 12 amps at which power the speakers?

thats another dream one at a time haha. (the wife gets an old restored vw bug next first though)

well while im still waiting for the owner of this boat to bring all the pieces in for the boat that didn't go into storage with it.

anyone have any idea if this Bimini can be made to fit the tower on the 01. i realy like the tilt down feature of it and storage. i hated Bimini on boats growing up but they make them look cool now a boat just does not seam to look complete without one especially with how tall the tower is on the x star

Honestly hard to belive its mine, I thought my first boat would be an old beat up project or a litle aluminum boat. Not the boat I rember drooling looking at as a teenager thinking I'd never own one.

just wondering what marine wax people recommend for there boats i plan on getting a buffer eventually but i need to be a little bit budget friendly for a little bit.

looking for some good marine wax? (im going to clay bar the boat first)
i need two new vents for the back of the boat was wondering if anyone had a good source for polished stainless ones?
and my heater vent has the tabs broken on it and good repair suggestions for that?

Search wax and you will be adequately informed...that said, Collinite is well liked. I use Mequires Premium boat wax. i think the results are great. i will try Collinite in the future just because i am curious.

well if you couldn't afford (but you were able to) - this would have been an excellent starter...

so had the boat out a couple times have had no need to anchor just takeing it out for 2 or 3 hour runs around a local lake. just to get more comfortable with launching it and pulling it out of the water

we are taking it up camping next weekend though. i purchased a box anchor and a shore spike and some fenders. but am at a loss for what i should buy for anchor line and how much.

Will i be ok with some 3/8 nylon rope ? and how much should i buy ?

3/8" and a coated rode/chain and you're set.

You don't need a chain with the box anchor

well ive been busy getting my boat ready to go away camping with it this weekend. and was checking through the engine compartment because my blower was blowing the fuse.

to notice hey the blower hose is disintegrated. im not going to have enough time to source new hose and sort this out for the weekend. will i be ok without it?.

im pretty sure i am going to need to replace the blower aswell as it feals like the blades are jammed.

Well if you can't find the blower hose anywhere I have some that I'd part with. I had to order about sixty feet of it (that's the only way it came) and I have a bunch left over.

I just looked and I had to order 50 ft. JimBaws has it in that quantity and I think I paid 50-60 for it. I must have used more than I thought because I measured it and it looks like I have about 28 feet left.

So if you just need a little, I might be able to help, but if you need to redo the whole boat it may be better to give Jim a call.
