I recently purchased, Oct 2012, a 96 prostar 190 and would love to see other 190's of this same hull and design. I've seen the prostar thread, but would like to get hull specific. No holds bared on this thread, let's get down and dirty! Don't hold back! I want photos, complete descriptions, upgrades, experiences, stories, tower or not to tower, engines, hot babes, kids, etc.... Tell us what you love about this boat, what you didn't like, how much you wished you still had it.

I'm well aware of the famed 91-94 hull, I have first hand experience, owned a 91 prostar for 5 years. I sold my 91 prostar 190 to move up a few years to the 96. Although I loved the 91 and will miss her, I wanted to get a newer model and have always loved the 95-97 hull and design. I've only had the 96 out one time for about an hour on the purchase text drive. As you can imagine I'm dying to get her out and feel the ride.

I've read the prostar history thread.

I'm mostly excited about the electronic fuel injection, but also looked forward to the claimed improved ride in rough water, more interior room, improved tracking, and reduced spray. Please share your experiences in the 95-97 prostar 190.

I have the same boat with the LT1. This is my first ski boat, so I can't compare to any previous hull designs. Purchased last April, I found myself taking care of lots of maintenance items the PO neglected. Put about 30 hours on last summer pulling tubes, skiing and wakeboarding.

Here is my 01 PS195. Its the 95-97 hull. Owned it since the spring of 02 and have loved it. Not so sure it handles the rough water and better than the 91-94 hull. If it does its marginal, but it does have a little more room. The spray is improved slightly but on a headwind the spray can be annoying on setup to a course.

Great slalom tugs. My '97 is just a lowly TBI 1:1

Great looking machine Brian. How does this era of slalom hull compare to the 91-94 era? I ask in consideration of looking to move into the next (engine) era.

Honestly I think the 91-94 skies better. More of a bump at 22 off. I am by no means an expert. Just my :twocents:! If you want to upgrade power plant, the ultimate is the 94 with the TBI. I needed extra seating is the only reason I went the way I did.

it wasn't built in 95-97 but same hull - 2001 19Skier, predator with 1:1. It definitely has a bump at 22 off but I'm not good enough to be at that line length yet anyways. First summer last year with it, put around 80 hrs with no complaints.

Hammer, I really like your 195, was actually looking recently at a 2000 X5. One question, are those the original logos? They look great!

Here's my 96. Looks just like TN Barefooter's. Bought it 2 years ago in Georgia and gave it a new home here in Ontario. We absolutely LOVE it. It's got a little bigger wake than the J-Craft we used to have (which was also a sweet boat...225 OB, flat bottom with tracking fins), which my wife was scared of at first, but after skiing it she says it's actually softer. LT1 has tons of power, even with the 1:1, and top end is about 50mph.

On Sparrow Lake, on the Trent system, just south of Gravenhurst. I live in Ajax.

OK I'm in. Bought this last month. Haven't taken it home yet, it's at a buddy's house.

'97 LT-1 bought from original owner.

Not crazy about the color, but aside from that it fits the bill perfectly for my use these days. Does make me miss the X14 though.

Is that a spigot head on top of the water pump on your engine picture?

Yes they are the original graphics. Thanks! I think this is the only year of this hull that got this treatment. The following year the 197 was released and the 2002 x-5 did not get these graphics IIRC.

Not sure I am welcome in this thread; however, I had to post a shot of my former boat. 97 PS190 LT1. While I remain in the MC family with a kick a## boat.... many days I miss the power, agility and nearly non-existant wake of this beast. And yes, I had the purple shorts to match!

Surf? I didn't know you could surf behind it. Tell me about the set up you use to surf and would love to see photos. I really like the gel coat on your 96, more photos please.👍

I just sold my 96 Prostar I had purchased new. I probably would have kept it forever but with a growing family, I needed an open bow. I loved the hull, I loved the way the throttle held a steady speed, and I loved the way it drove. It did not handle rough water at all.
Let's see if I uploaded photos correctly....

The surf wave is not great, but it is doable. I put two 400 lb sacs in an L shape at the rear corner and run between 8-9 mph.

I'll post some more pics when I get it out of hibernation. Hopefully next week!

Yes, it controls the water flow to the heater under the bow.

Don't do it. I much prefer the lines of that boat with no tower, but it came with it, and the kids like to wakeboard so...... I have at least flipped the speaker cans so that they are under the tower where they belong. PO owner had them on top, and it looked stupid.

Fortunately we have a friend with an X1 so when the kids want to wakeboard or surf we use his. :D:D Thanks for the heads up.

I don't surf much, but from what I've heard, the 95 - 97 should be able to surf OK. The 2nd/ last generation X1/ X2/ 205V evolved from this hull.
