I am having an issue with gas spilling (very small amounts) from the fuel overflow valve near the transom (port side)

The boat sits in my garage and I worry about the fumes.

I had brimmed the tank to the top and added Stabil a couple months back. When I noticed it I took it to the lake and ran it for about 30 min.

Well a week later it started again. Did I not burn enough fuel?

Anyone else had this?

You probably just have a little fuel traped in the vent line. I don't know how easy it is to get at on your 197 but I would disconnect the vent line at the tank and blow it out.

Does that happen from overfilling the tank?

Yes. The fuel is cool when stored underground and expands when it warms up. If your tank is right full and not sitting just right it will push fuel instead of air out your vent.

I had the same issue last summer when I topped off the tank. As the boat sat in my shop for a cpl days the heat inside expanded the fuel and I had a puddle under the overflow vent. I siphoned some out and used oil dry to soak the puddle.

If I get out and run some of the fuel out then problem solved correct?
Thanks for all the help on this.

I just don't want gas running down the side of the boat....not the best stuff for the gel coat

Like Hecker said, you may still have some fuel trapped in the vent line. 30 minutes of running should have burned enough.

Don't sweat it, that's what the vent is for. I never top off the tank and just fill it to the first click at the bowser. It's far better that the fuel is on the outside of the hull rather than in the bilge. Drain some more if it persists and wash off the gel.

Thanks I just worry about the fumes. Due to the gas runoff I will have to replace a decal on the back part of the boat. I will have my dealership order a new one.

Just pissed about it. And it's my fault.

Or there is something like this....

Or there is something like this....

Get this. It will solve your problem. Put one on my PS 190 vent/overflow line and it stopped the fuel burping out of the vent.
So the newer Prostars still have a tank vent? My X2 doesn't and I thought that single line, returnless fuel systems didn't have a vent. Maybe because the PS tanks are mounted higher up in the boat? My tank is down in the bilge.

Yeah it has the vent toward the tail of the starboard side

That looks awesome. I might have one installed. I called the dealer today to order a new decal for me.
