I need some help from all the MC people that visit Norris. We enjoyed the lake enough to trailer 700 + miles each way again!!

We decided to head back to Norris this year from June 29th thru July 6th and rented a floating home at Flat Hollow Marina. Last year was our first trip to Norris, previously we were from the Dale Hollow/Cumberland crowd. We stayed @ Shanghai and boated/ skied from the Shanghai to Whitman area and everywhere in between.

What should we expect with the Flat Hollow side? Any areas that we should visit? Best skiing in the mornings? It looks from google maps the cove opens back up behind the dock, is this idle or skiable?

Any help would be appreciated, other than the lake is nasty with snakes... :)

If you see an old school 97 205 Sammy stop in and say hello!

I have been going to the Flat Hollow side for 30+ years ... Great spot.

The marina itself is no wake but the main body of the lake outside of the marina is skiable.

You can head left and get some great water most mornings and also to the right.

You should have a great time. Sometime we head right and take a Long cruise to the crowded waters of Deerfield and more but on the Flat Hollow side the lake is usually calm except for peek weekend times.

No slalom course in that side unless we happen to be there :)

Let me know I you have any specific questions and we will be happy to respond.

There is some really nice water up around Flat Hollow - we will make the trek up to that end of the lake several times a year. It is the area of the lake with the least amount of snakes and stumps too. :D

Oh yeah - Fire on the Water (huge on water fireworks show) is June 29th too. It is at Sequoia Marina, which is a bit of a haul from Flat Hollow, especially going home afterwards, but worth the trip if you're game.

Thank you for your input.

Doubt we will be making the run to Fire on the Water....we have experienced 4th on the water and it can be a little dangerous. Be safer to hang out at the house and watch Flat Hollow show.

Will be out in the mornings taking some barefoot runs, kids will board & surf. We will have a full boat so that is why we went with the floating house concept.

The floating houses are great. We rented one at Whitman Hollow for years until we got our house built. You can't beat it for quickness on and back off the water. I didn't even know Flat Hollow had fireworks - never been up there at night.

Had 2 or 3 to choose from....Not exactly what we wanted but late planning for a major holiday....we will know better for next year.

Flat Hollow is a bit further of a drive if you are coming up I-75. It's nice up there though. The one we were staying in was pretty much booked for the summer by April and major weekends were gone in Feb. If you are in for a week, the little bit of extra drive is nothing - if you are only in Friday through Sunday, that little bit of time is pretty precious.

Whats another 30 minutes after 11 hour trip up :D We have our benefits in the winter months here in Florida, you have the best lakes imho for summer. We will be there for 2 weeks...1 at Norris the other in the Knoxville area.
